How Can We Capture the IP Address of...
I need to know how to capture the IP address of the individual who submits from my Web Form Builder form.
We have an association of members-who-help-each-other that works very well, except for a couple of leeches who keep signing up under different names, sucking what they can from the group until they get discovered again and booted out. If we could capture the IP address of the person who sumbits a JOIN form, then we could identify these leeches when they sign up and quietly deny their membership in the group.
Thanks,
David in Mississippi

The ip address capture is already built into the form builder as a default. Test a form and see.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

You'll find that on the very bottom area of your form usually the last field. The only way this would possibly not work is if you altered the results setup of the results email (in other words, if you deleted the [results] part and input your own results setup manually. I haven't tested that so it still may show up even if you do, just going by the old program when it was flash it didn't retain that if you changed it at all. I'm going to hope that's fixed and it's still there even if you do edit that part of the email.
Anyways, check the last field of any of the emails you get, it should be there. I for one hope it's always there for the exact reason you are having problems with. Good luck on it

Thanks! Both of you. This is great information, and I'd forgotten that, from back when I simply used the default form email response, including the [results] field.
I'll use that if I have to, but now I have designed an HTML email form for my clients that puts the results in a much nicer format. Do you know is there some default field I could use that would cause the IP address - which is obviously already there - into my own format?
Failing that, I guess I'll just have to put the [results] field down at the bottom of the email. Sigh. That will include what I need, but it will also include a repetition of all the other fields, and it won't be formatted like the rest of the email.
At least now I'm on the track of a solution.

You'll probably have to ask the CC devs about that one, not sure if anyone of the users will know what to pull out of there to get that information, possible, but should probably put in a support topic to get an answer on it.
Please do come back and post again and let us know what they say as I'm curious about this myself and I'm sure it will help others asking the same question later

David,
You can set-up different emails to yourself and the person who filled in the form.
In WFB click on 'Settings' and then 'email notices'.
In the top section select an email address where you receive a confirmation with the IP address.
In the bottom section tick the 'Auto response message' and then cut'n'paste your formatted email in the 'configure email message' section.

Hello Everyone! OMG! ....I figured out how to customize the email notification AND include the
IP Address too if you want... (without having to use the default [_form_results_] )
Example:
Let's say you do not want to use [_form_results_] as in my case and want to just insert your
own tags (Names/Labels) but would still like to include the IP Address.....(b/c it automatically disappears when you remove the [_form_results_] )
...you would just include [_fromaddress_] and you're set ! Of course you can add your own Label like:
IP Address: [_fromaddress_]
The reason I did not want to use the default [_form_results_] any longer was because I like using the Hidden Fields feature at the bottom of the Form Options tab and what was happening was they were all being included within the [_form_results_] default data.
So yes I'm currently....**dancing the happy dance**

All those options are available at the bottom for you to select. Pretty cool isn't.

Hi Eric - what do you mean that all those options are at the bottom for you to select?
I'm not sure where you are talking about......I spent hours digging for that IP address tag
inside of one of the source files. It was brutal.

On the "Email Notices" tab, click on "Notification message" or "Auto_response message" depending on what you want to work on. Now click on "Configure Email message". Now click on "Insert data from:". This will give you all the separate options of your form.
