Sadly all forms v2.5 now fail. This is a major hassle that all webmasters using form builder now must rebuild all forms. And pay $99 for the privilege. Coffeecup has found a new way to make money. Time for a new partner.

I have just Upgraded and paid the 99 because of Google reCaptcha. Put the keys in and it keeps telling me wrong key. I even checked the code and the keys are right. But on the page it says wrong key.. 99 wasted...

Hi Slinger,
Make sure there's no leading or trailing spaces. That got me a few times on codes and scripts.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Nope I checked and checked again.. Even re placed my keys on Google plus made sure keys are V2.. Put new keys in and same thing. I checked an matched them in form.cfg to make sure the keys are the same.. Only choice is to remove the reCaptcha off the form so it can still be used. Like I said only upgraded because of the reCaptcha and wasted 99 dollars because it did not work anyways..

Plus why can you not copy and past them into the app? Trying to figure out all the letters and numbers are a pain and a big chance of not getting it right. But Like I said I found them in the coding and made sure it was perfect and all matched up fine in the file stream.

You are talking about the recaptcha key, right? You can paste that...right clicking will not work, but Ctrl V does (Windows)

First, you don't have to rebuild your forms. Just open them up in v2, add the recaptcha keys and publish (or export for your site). It's no big deal.

Second, let's say I hired you to build me a web site, and you designed it for me with all the current specifications needed for Chrome. Then, Google changes Chrome so some of those specs don't work anymore. I want you to update my site to work in Chrome again. Are you going to charge me for your time?

Of course you will. That's how you make your living. I don't deserve an updated site from you because Google changed a specification.

It's no different with Coffeecup. They designed Web Form Builder with great features, one of which is integrating Google recaptcha. Google, not Coffeecup, changed how the recaptcha works. Coffeecup had to spend time updating the program to match Google's changes. In addition to the captcha upgrade, they also included important PHP security updates (which is VERY important) plus inserted the latest MailChimp V3 API.

Those are three major updates worthy of users paying for the upgrade.

Did you know that Web Form Builder can be used for both simple and complicated forms and that it's not limited to the default fonts and buttons? Take a look at a form we developed for WindowTinting.com.

Brian,

Sadly, your post makes perfect sense. I have only two contact forms that need to be upgraded, and was really hoping a full upgrade wasn't necessary. I guess I will make the client make that call.

Thanks for putting the issue in the proper perspective. Dave

I couldn't figure out why, after update, the form was still showing reCaptcha V1...

1) you get and insert the new V2 site and secret keys.
2) Under those keys is a block called TYPE... V2 has two different options. Change to either light or dark.

Mine was set for RED (V1) and that was apparently enough to cause it fail on the form.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
