Can't Delete Folders Created by Web...

I created a web form, wanted to test it before deployment, so uploaded it in a folder named TESTER. Works great - put the form in its permanent location.

The problem - the TESTER folder will not delete. Everything within it deletes except for the STORAGE folder designed to hold the CSV, DB, etc files generated by the web form.

Using CoffeeCup Direct FTP, current version.

Please advise.

Does it give you an error message?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Direct FTP gives this error message ...

"When sending custom QUOTE commands to the remote server, one of the commands returned a 400 or higher error code. [21]"

When starting DFTP are you using admin rights? Right-click and select 'Run as Administrator'.
Check your server settings to insure you are in 'Passive' mode, port 21.
Check the folder permissions. Set to 777 just for insurance. Then try and remove the folder again.

Let us know if you figure this out. Thanks.

Gunsmoke - thanks for the guidance. Running DFTP as administrator, passive mode, permissions set to 777. No joy.

Did some web searching and found a few odd things, so, let me ask you an odd question...

Is there an .htaccess file in your ROOT and/or TESTOR and/or STORAGE folders? If so, you might rename that and try and see if the dirs. will delete, then rename it back.

Next thing, several users have said they were able to go to the cpanel for the server and delete the folders that way. Have you tried that yet?

Also, just on the off chance, have you tried any other FTP program to see if it works? Might try the CoffeeCup FreeFTP or any other and see if it works.

Let us know. Thanks.

I just ran into this also. I couldn't delete using Transmit but I could delete storage with Dreamweaver. Odd.

I have also had this, and in some cases I deleted through the Cpanel, or I used FileZilla. DFTP doesn't seem to show 'dot files' but FileZilla does.

You have to enable that in DFTP under the View Menu by checking the Invisible Files. Anything beginning with a DOT is always hidden in an FTP view.

I also had this issue a few days ago and had to use my CPanel to delete some files, not files for anything that was CoffeeCup, just some files that I had created some folders for myself and uploaded some things to it a couple years ago. Went to delete the folders the other day and got that same error as above, tried to go into the folders and delete the files that were in it and same error. Had to delete from CPanel to get the files deleted.

I don't think that enabling of invis files has anything to do with this though, I have had that turned on from day one and still had this issue the other day. That would only affect those that are trying to delete a .file which I wasn't doing.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
