Hello everyone!

It's been a while since I've posted anything - how's everyone doing?

Okay, so my brother-in-law is looking to buy a new computer. He might just go with something at HP.com b/c he gets a discount thru his work. But he asked me (he thinks I'm a techie) what I thought about a ZT Systems computer. Well, I didn't know what the heck he was talking about so I had to ask "Granny Google" as I call it hehe.

My brother-in-law said he was looking at an AMD processor, but I told him right away I'm a huge Intel lover & told him to NOT go w/AMD.

He wanted to know what I thought, or if I had any friends who had any feedback on - the ZT Systems computers.

So, here I am, asking for more advice/opinions/suggestions :)

Who thinks my brother-in-law should just go w/an Intel based PC at HP.com or go for one of the desktops at ZT Systems...or are they basically the same?

Thanks everyone! Luv ya! :)

What i know about computers...
Processor it'is important, OK Intel is nice but... installed in a motherboard??? Quality of motherboard are important. Quality and capacity of expansion.
RAM memory, bigger the best but manufacturer is important
HD bigger as fast
Video cart, OK here you can save a little. If go surf through games or image and video processing you will need the best of the art. Regular use you may have a regular cart from a good manufacturer.
If ZT Systems made their own assemblage your brother-in-law must ask for the components they use to assemble the PC. The HP uses several supplier for their components but they have (I presume) very good quality control from their suppliers.
You see, you can have a very nice and expensive system but if the cooling system is not very good and reliable you may have in future a very expensive of a burned system (I have a Toshiba laptop and need to improve cooling because I notice it started overheating, specially after dust start shielding the processor heat sink).
I hope this helped you a little.

A lot of laptops are manufactured by a a single company and re-branded by the big boys. :)

I have a a three year old Dell laptop with an AMD Turion 2.2 GH processor that still runs strong. I had to replace a module of ram and the battery only lasts about an hour. A few months back I got a Gateway (owned by Acer) laptop with the newer I5 processor and love it.

I personally would get the Intel core I3, I5, or I7 processors. They're fast, cool, and use low power consumption. The current video cards in mainstream laptops are decent for most computing outside of gaming or CAD. Heat is a major concern in a laptop but airflow has improved over the years and shouldn't be a problem.

You can't rely on reviews. If you look at the HP forums, they love them and swear by them if you get a high-end model instead of the low-end models. HP didn't do well in last years review, though??

CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

Jimmy & Tom,

Thank you so much for your input! :)

My brother-in-law is looking for a desktop, not a laptop though :) But I assume the same suggestions apply - he needs to find out the components of the ZT Systems desktop that he's looking at.

I told him to just go w/an Intel based HP since that's what I have & I love it! :)

Thanks again - much appreciated!

Have a great day everyone!:)
