First it was the Shopping Cart Creator and Shopping Cart Designer. Original customers were told that it would include lifetime updates and upgrades. We presented numerous suggestions for improving the software, and when those suggestions were acted upon, instead of releasing the software as one of the lifetime updates/upgrades, it was rebranded as SCC Pro, forcing customer to purchase it a second time.
Now with the announcement of Web Form Builder finally being upgraded to work on iPads and iPhones with HTML5, it is also being re-released and you are asking customers who previously bought Web Form Builder to pay for it all over again.
This bait-and-switch tactic has not gone un-noticed. I will never purchase Coffee Cup software again.

Compare the few times you have to pay a few dollars for an upgrade compared to most software companies, Coffeecup asks very little. Most of the time it is part of a "big hamper" deal that is still a steal. I have never come across a company that equals Coffeecup on support, deals and free upgrades for life.

"Quis custodiet ipsos custodes."
I sure am happy Microsoft doesn't offer free upgrades for life. I love spending $150 every 2 to 3 years for upgrades.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Everyone is welcome to their opinions. I just think that if a company offers free lifetime updates and upgrades then they should honor that selling point. If more people fall for their scheme, such as the guy above who is happy to fork out $150, then CoffeeCup will continue with these bait-and-switch techniques.
Since they have said they will no longer be updating the original Web Form Builder, then IMHO it is wrong to charge previous purchasers for the new, improved version.

See this Post, this issue has been beaten to a pulp already in previous threads. The explanation has been given multiple times and as Viv already said, not everyone can be pleased and many expect everything for nothing including brand new rewrites of software.
See this thread and read from page 6 on for what the real deal is. If that doesn't explain it to your liking, then I'm sorry you're upset and we'll miss your presence here Adevandry. Hopefully you'll see the point of it all and realize that sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and let a company grow when they need to and let a program die when it does.

You've just brought up a great point.
Free updates or free upgrades?

Crud, I had a nice long post made explaining the reasons CC has to charge for these programs, and what they should do to avoid these reactions in the future. Then I hit the post message button and got an OOPS page, the thread wasn't there anymore and my post was lost. I'm out of time now so I'll have to rewrite it later. Darn Joann, you are too efficient

Though we'd like to offer the new Web Form Builder as a free upgrade to existing registered users, we are considering it a new program. The reason for this is that the Classic version was written in Flash and the new version has been built entirely on HTML.
Upgrades are always free within the life-cycle of the program. But don't think we are changing the name just to charge more money — that would be untrue. This program is a complete 100% re-write of the software that accomplishes tasks in a completely different way and, as such, we consider it a new program.

You can see a feature comparison chart of the two programs here: http://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles/ … m-builder/
But there's good news! Until midnight today, we are offering a $29 special so you can get the new HTML version as well as a bunch of other form-related stuff for one low price. When the FULL version is released in the next 1-2 weeks, there will no longer be an upgrade option. If you think the $29 is a good deal given everything that it comes with, then go for that, because you'll be able to upgrade to the full version at no extra cost.
So there is absolutely no bait-and-switch going on here. These are two programs that are completely different. The only common factor is they both make a form.
