Linux ports for CoffeeCup software?

I did a short search for Linux here but didn't see any articles/posts regarding the possibility of Linux versions of your great software.

How do you see the Ubuntu wave effecting your decisions? Do you think there's a viable base of users who would use CoffeeCup software?

I'm really getting comfortable with Ubuntu and find myself using it more than Windows every day. I sure would like to use your HTML editor and your other great utilities in a native Debian environment.

Keep up the great work.

I tried a couple programs a good while back in Ubuntu using Wine and I do believe 1 or 2 worked out of 3 or so that I tested. Photo Gallery was one that did seem to work in Wine, although I haven't tested any app thoroughly. Not yet anyway.

Good question ... I suspect, however, that there are no plans to come forth with a Linux version of CoffeeCup software or at least make it play nice with Wine. Too bad really ... many of us have moved on to Linux ... Ubuntu specifically ... and having paid for the programs, would like to see such a plan come about. Sadly, it doesn't seem so ...

At this time there are no plans to develop any Linux based applications. We have just not seen the user demand to warrant the development and resources needed to support them.

I think that most program will work with wine. Anyway there must be a way which google uses for it's software - recompiling software for Linux using winelib. Hence we can have even some original .deb packagecs.

I, like so many others who have become more and more disenchanted with Windlose over the years, have moved on to Linux ... specifically Ubuntu and now Ultimate Edition ... and while there are a couple of excellent programs for website development, we've become so accustomed to the familiar CoffeeCup ease-of-use and interface that we'd really like to continue using this excellent group of software. It would appear, however, that this is not going to come to pass ... the Linux versions of this excellent software is not to be.

That said and even though Wine is unfortunately (a good idea in theory but not in practice) not particularly friendly with all but a very few programs, we can use CoffeeCup in a Virtual Machine. The Linux tools and programs are there ... this has been mentioned and detailed a bit in another thread about how to accomplish this.

While I haven't tried it yet (except with aforementioned Wine), I plan to in the next couple of days and just might post back any results so that we can all continue to use this excellent suite of tools under what is fast becoming the most favored of OSes ... Linux.

Getting really tired of dual(duel?)-booting just to use a couple of familiar programs ...

+1 for Ubuntu user wanting CC Software for said platform... I only allow MS on 1 out of 5 'puters that we have. I'm also in the process of converting as many clients as I can.

I add my voice to the call for Linux version of CC.

While I'm all in favor of Linux (and mac) versions of CC stuff existing, that would entail CC hiring development teams to do the work, and to pay those teams their software prices would have to go way up. Such teams don't come cheap.

I'm putting my vote down for Coffee Cup to develop a linux (or at least wine compatible) version of their software.

It's just a matter of time before an open source version will pop up...The market is there, and it's frustrating to hear that the reason the linux version is not being worked on is because there's no demand.

I bought the software, converted from windows to ubuntu, never looked back, and now have apparently no choice but to stop using coffee cup software :(

I see this becoming a more and more frequent story as Ubuntu and other platforms become increasingly user friendly and popular.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
