I remember the first one I built, in 1999. It lasted me for about 12 years. :) Then the local school got it, and I think they are still using it, with WinXP.

WinXP!! haha I remember that OS.. the first OS I used I think was Windows 95, and AOL social networking was the hottest thing on the market.

The first 'OS' I used was a Commodore, and then some others that I don't remember the names of. The first one I had myself was Win 3.0. Those were the days...

I was using OS2/Warp way, way back. If I remember, it was almost 26 floppy disks to install it.....

I haven't used that, but I have installed win95 a number of times with 25 floppies. That was when we got about 20 used PCs for free to use in the school I was working at. I had all those machines at home first to vacuum off the 'wollen blanket' under the hood. Then I had two pupils, about 12 years old, that I had to take care of because they were misbehaving in class. I got them to help me install from those floppies (we had only one set, no cd writer in those days), and there was no more misbehaving to be seen. One of them actually got so keen on it that he is running his own IT business today.

Wow those are some older OS's . I did have a computer that booted up and played PacMan only! haha, I don't recall it ever doing anything else other than taking 30 minutes to boot up before I played. That's when I got into computers. I am planning on a new build, but with it being Christmas and all I don't have time. My first goal was to upgrade this one because something is causing it to overheat sometimes, then after I thought about the parts and stuff I figured I might as well build a new one. Now i'm going to make this more interesting.. what processor chip do you prefer.. AMD or Intel?

I prefer AMD, have always used whatever was the current version.
You could perhaps solve that overheating issue. Check the processor fan if it is working properly, and if it is sitting properly where it is supposed to sit. Maybe you need to fasten it? Or maybe you need a bigger fan? You need to ask in a computer shop what is the best for the processor you have.
