Hi Becky, I'm not sure what you are trying to do. Are you trying to add your cart to Visual Site Designer?

If so that's not how it works.

You can design your website separately if you like and then link it to your shopping cart also designed separately or you can simply make a shop with the Shopping Cart Creator and use the Home page in that as your shop home page.

Which software are you trying to use?

Also no need to buy any CoffeeCup software more than once as you get free updates for life and can re-download it any time.

Shopping Cart Creator most definitely works with Paypal.

If you can give us a bit more information we will try and help you.

I did not know I had to have a shopping cart to do all of this attched to my site,I thought it was just linked to paypal and it would do it's thing... I am not a computer wiz...lol... I am trying to figure all of this out. i don't have any computer savy friends in ths field... so I was trying to do this all myself. I will look at this again and see if I understand it more. Thank You for your insight this am.

I can see you are using Visual Site Designer, so that's one of the programs. Was there another you were using?

It depends how many products you have for sale as to whether you need a full shopping cart or not. If you only have a couple then you probably only need to add some Paypal buttons.

Visual Site Designer in itself doesn't have a Paypal option but you can add Paypal buttons to pages you make with it.

Maybe if you can outline what you have done so far and with which programs and what you hope to achieve as well as how many products you have to sell, we might get a clearer picture what you want to do and if we can help you :)

Its just after midnight in my part of the world so I'm off to bed but will check again in the morning, meanwhile others here might be able to help.

Hi Becky,

You have two options. You can create your website in Visual Site Designer and build your shopping cart with the Shopping Cart Creator. Or you can build the whole site using only the Shopping Cart Creator. Either way, you can easily build your site using only the visual interface without knowing any HTML.

If you want to simplify things by using only one tool to create the whole site, Shopping Cart Creator is that tool. It allows you to easily create pages such as, About, Terms of Use, Privacy Statement, Contact, etc, along with the built-in functions that create your Categories, Items, View Cart, and Checkout pages. This is the easiest method for the beginner.

If you feel more adventurous and would like to also use the VSD application, you can build your website with VSD and link your shopping cart to it via a link from the menu. Using this method, you will put the shopping cart in a separate directory. CoffeeCup also a Shopping Cart Default - VSD Theme Pack that will definitely speed up the development process and might save you some development aggravation, as well. :)

Either way, you will have an E-Commerce website up and running in no time. If you need assistance, feel free to visit the forum, where users assist other users. And you always have access to the official Coffeeup support system if you ever need to enter a support ticket. You can pursue that option simply by clicking on the Get Support link on the purple navigation bar.

Good luck and have a great day!

OH YOu GUys Thanks so much for the clearifying of this I knew I had gotten the right software for the job, I just did not know totally how to use it. I will do what you told me and I will be doing business in no time. I have the site designed, I have a couple of friends pages with my site that is why I did the VSD & SCC I have worked with the site designer for 5-6 years, I liked the work it did and I know how to use it. I just don't quit know how to do the intergate thing. but I will keep working on it to do it. do I need to use the filzilla ftp to load all of this, to my site on the net? and the seperate directory for the cart is there somewhere special i need to have this placed? I was taking up to much room on my notebook so i moved it to my external hard drive, do I need to move it back to the notebook for it all to work together?

VSD and SCC both have built-in FTP functions to upload your site. Just plug-in the FTP information for your site and let her rip. Make sure the path for your shop is not in the root where your VSD pages are located, but in a separate folder on the server - or things might get mixed up and problems could occur. The VSD program files and the SCC program files may remain separate. on different drives.

So your website structure would be something like this:

http://www.mywebsite.com

http://www.mywebsite.com/mycart/

Hiya Becky,

On your question about how to integrate it's fairly easy, just:

1. Go to your Your Shop Settings on the General tab.
2. Go to the 2nd tab of that section for the Pages.
3. Go down to the last selection for Homepage (Optional).
4. Choose the last choice to Link to:.
5. Enter in the full link to page you want your Home Page to be for your entire website.

That will now be treated as the Home page and that will be where the Home button on your shop pages will take people.

Do keep in mind that the external html pages from outside the shop files won't show up on the Shop's menu, but as long as people can get to the home page you can extend your home page menu to include all things which helps quite a bit.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
