Each year, the day after Thanksgiving, we put on our coats and gloves and head to the basement to chop down the tree from its box. ;)

Inger - My Mom used to ALWAYS put our tree up the day after Thanksgiving and it would stay up until at least Jan 3rd. Never had any problems with balding trees, and yes they were real (at least until just the last few years of her life).

Ours has always stayed up until the last day of Christmas which ends on the Epiphany in January.

I have not seen one of those in years. I remember my grandparents having one when I was a kid.
