Melissa do you have access to a cPanel for your server? If you do, check there and see if you have Fantastico or Scriptaculous setups in it. Usually I find it at the bottom of all the things in there. Anyways, if you have access to this, you have access to not only some awesome Poll software, but also a ton of other features as well.

Gotta be careful not to mix apples & oranges here. The business site at http://ColoradoProcessServers.net is at Hostgator and I have Cpanel.

The Planetary Bill of Rights Project site at http://www.PlanetaryBillOfRights.org/ is hosted at my ISP and all I have is a simple Extranet setup there, for domain emails.

I want the survey at http://www.PlanetaryBillOfRights.org/

The preliminary results from this survey are startling, profound and would wake a LOT of people up!

I'm a little confused as to how those works. It looks like I'm already using an iframe to put the survey on my site from theirs, and it's kinda working now, but there's a repeating part of the survey beneath the main part, though I tried adjusting it.

http://www.planetarybillofrights.org/Ta … dates.html

The main problem now, is that unless I pay PollDaddy monthly money, they won't even let me show the results to people in graphic format after they take the poll.

There's GOTTA be some good poll/survey software somewhere that's REASONABLY PRICED, without those big monthly fees.

Someone PLEASE! SOME SOFTWARE! ( CC - are you listening??? )

Well although you may be using an iframe now, you're using it with your "paid" service with the poll site. What I'm suggesting is that you use the site you have that has the cPanel instead. Install the poll on there (don't need to link it to that site if you don't want to) and then use the iframe on the site you're using the iframe on now, only iframe your own poll instead of paying someone else for theirs. Same thing,... but different :P

Also, have you checked Bravenet? They usually have a lot of free services there for sites.

Other than that Google is your friend, if someone else is giving you info about a bunch of software it's most likely because they googled it for you. I would think you could do that for yourself just as easy as someone else can. Besides, people been asking CC for poll software for years, I'm not thinking it's anything on top of their list or we'd have at least "heard" that they were doing it by now :)

OK, I guess I'm confused. I thought the script code they have me, led back to an actual app on their site. Are you saying the script code is stand-alone?

Yeah, no surveys.

I WAS. The free survey stuff that I found on there is pretty worthless because in order to show users the results in graphic format, they demand that you "upgrade" to paid service.

Besides, people been asking CC for poll software for years, I'm not thinking it's anything on top of their list or we'd have at least "heard" that they were doing it by now :)

I bet there's a fortune to be made! The ones out there now offer "free" polls and surveys but they're trash, unless you "upgrade" to paid stuff, which is often $45 a month MINIMUM.

So what if CC offered poll/survey stand alone software for your own website, which they charged $20 to own, which would allow unlimited poll/survey takers a month and store the results and show them in graphic format at my website?

Seems like people would flock to it?

Hmm... looks like Tucows actually has some. Gotta go check it out and see...

Ok so I don't think you pursued the Bravenet thing very far. If you don't have a free account already setup there do so and check out the polls and surveys that I just looked at there and see if they are what you're looking for. They are created and they give you code to put on your site in exchange for having their branding on the app. Fair exchange.
They most definitely have them, 2 different types and the one does surveys as well as polls. That's as far as I'm going on doing footwork for you though, you're on your own to work it out, getting signed up and setting it up.

I used bravenet tools for many years before I came to CC and before I had access to a cPanel. I used their tools well before I had a clue what I was doing at all, and it wasn't too difficult to work out and they had very good instructions for using their tools. If I can do it with nary a clue I think you can too.

There are Polls in cPanel within Fantastico, and if your server, like mine, has upgraded to Scriptaculous, then you have much more too choose from so I'm at a loss as to why you're having issues finding polls and surveys to use. You have them in your cPanel for the one site, they are free, they are not paid services, you can use these with an iframe on the other site, not sure what you mean that you already are as I don't believe you are if you're paying someone for them, and Bravenet definitely offers them free also.

Ok, I just checked into Bravenet, registered and all. Yes they supposedly let you do free polls, but like everyone else, if you want users to be able to see the results, you gotta buy the "pro" version.

I have no idea about the other stuff you're talking about, but thanks anyway, I'm outa here...

JoAnn the site Melissa wants the poll on does not use Cpanel, its the basic bit of FREE space one gets with a broadband/phone account intended purely for private personal use, like a family album ! (CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG)

I think the business account possibly she does not have access to the c panel, or if she does she may not know how to use it, or what it has available, possibly a split hosting with NO ACCESS AT ALL .

Yes Viv I know the site she wants it on doesn't have cPanel, that's why I've been repeating myself each post and saying (let me slow this down so it's perfectly clear)

Go go the site you have that "does" have cPanel

Create the Poll you want using your Fantastico or Scriptaculous or whatever system you have on your cPanel that gives you all the great apps and software, they all have it pretty much.

Save it so it's on the site that has cPanel, but don't include it in that site if it's not needed there.

NOW go to the site that does not have cPanel, the one that you actually want the poll on.

Use an iframe and link that iframe to the poll on the other site. This should work just like including sections of any other site in an iframe.

Does that make it clearer? It's what I've been telling her to do since she said she had cPanel on the other site lol. Can't get much easier and much more convenient and free than that :)

I saw nothing saying she didn't have access to it, so I'm still assuming she does.

I'll look at Bravenet again, I didn't see anything on there at all about having to pay them for anything on those polls.

**EDIT**
I've looked and once again, you're interpreting things incorrectly on the Bravenet site. Here is exactly what it says for the 2 different plans:

I would like a FREE Vote Caster Service
Create several topic sets that your visitors can vote on with a click. The free Vote Caster is a top notch ad-supported service.

I would like a PRO Vote Caster Service

Remove the ads! The Professional Service allows you to conduct surveys in up to 50 topics. Keep your vote statistics private and remove all of the ads!

Basically it's whether you want ads or not, and how many topics you need, and that the statistics can be private with the paid version. I didn't see anything on your posts saying you needed any of this so this is still a very viable service for you. You don't have to pay to show your statistics, only to keep them private and have much more choices is all. I am very sure it will do what you need.

Ok now I'm done too.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
