New Forum................ 'Bug...

Something occured to me.....

Its rare I guess, but sometimes bugs are found and its difficult to know where to post,

There are many forums here, and I wondered if having a new one called 'Bug Reports' or something,
in the topmost main index would make it easier to log any issues that come up....

Scott seems to bear the brunt of the queries and scanning all the forums for bug related things must
take some doing.... Maybe the development team would be able to interact there too, direct, as it were....

Anyway, just a thought

Regards

Peter

At first I thought it's a good idea. Then I remembered all the people having posted 'bugs' which actually were their own faults, and such a forum might be flooded with them. But I'm not the one calling the shots here...

They do have a bug system and issue system, it's called a Support Ticket :P

Actually the Tickets are the best way to report things if you're sure it's a bug, and if you're not sure then just post in the main forum and someone usually helps you fix it or tells you to report it in a Ticket... so I think Inger's right, I think it would just get full of non bug things and make us forum admin's have to move more posts around that aren't in the right place or we'd have to watch the thread and make new threads for any issues that are user error and not a bug etc.

It's a good thought though.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

So your senior advisor status does not give you an automatic bug fix button then ;)

Seriously though ambassadors, advisor's, we dont have any repair ability, but it was a nice idea

Ahhh, Ok. I just thought I might suggest it, as I have noticed that Scott seems to be the main source of buggy stuff :D and wondered if may help.

I guess there would be quite a lot of things that may be posted that actually boil down to something simple.

Somehow the ability to use restraint should kick in though, real bugs are things that really shouldnt happen... and its pretty obvious when one turns up, and having a place to put serious things may ease the workload of some CoffeeCup people.

The development team could view things too and Scott wouldn't have to keep notifying them....

Not to worry though, it was just an idea

Peter :)

Peter what we need is a debugger, just like our defragger, but it would put Scott out of business :( and we need his personal touch :P

Viv

I agree about the support ticket option to do things, but somehow that's very 'hidden' and for me is a last resort.

If a bug was found, ie a proper bug or programme misbehaviour, then a forum could be a useful
way of documenting it for the future reference of everyone and maybe answer questions before the
support ticket route was taken....

It may even encourage people to update with a new release...

Ahh, I dont know, it was just a thought, and to be honest, CoffeeCup HTML Editor is so well done
I spect there wouldn't be much to put in a Bug Report forum anyway.... :)
