I wrote my own using php, mysql but it just got filled up with spam (I am no expert). I now use one from phpjunkyard.com as it has a good security code you have to enter before you can post etc. It is not very flexible to merge it into your site. This can be viewed on this website (designed using coffeecup s/w):
http://www.markhancoxbirdphotography.co.uk/ where I tried to make it look as best as possible to being part of the site.

My suggestion is can Coffee Cup come up with a Guestbook program if enough users required it?

A safe Guestbook it is realy a good idea.
I use one free script based on PHP (I do not know to program this language) I found in internet. It is clean code and very easy to understand. The problem were the spammers when I understande they look for files called "gustbook", "feedback" and similars. With try and error system I change all files parameters using portuguese names (I'm from Portugal) and the spam stops. But tooks too much time for me to do any changes in the script, specially the layouts.
Let's wait for news ... :-)

A safe guestbook would be a great thing. That is a GREAT idea!!!! I'd love to see one along with a tell a friend application (which I've already requested). Maybe CoffeeCup could bundle them along with something else as a traffic-generator kit, or something like that. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

I agree!

I currently use "Active Guestbooks" (free) http://www.active-scripts.net/active_guestbook.html

and it's customizable and cool... but not as cool as what the CCT could do!

I heartily agree! This is a great idea, and probably not at all difficult for the brilliant team at CoffeeCup. :)
