"New" Sitemapper Problem with...

I've been uploading my CCSC sitemap using CC's FTP for months. Then I'd use CC Google Sitemapper to submit to Google. Now I get an error telling me to upgrade my sitemapper software. So I upgraded.

I read the help manual down to the link to validate the sitemap. It was OK. Next logged into Google webmaster, added website to Google. The Manuel said to
Expand the Site configuration link on the left-hand side and select Sitemaps
. No such option, Google told me to verify site using either a Mega tag and to
copy the meta tag below, and paste it into your site's home page. It should go in the <head> section, before the first <body> section.
I tried adding this to my CCSC home page, not located by Google. Next I inserted the code in my CCSC footing, not located by Google. Since I'm using CCSC rather than creating a website, how do I add the verification code. I was also unsuccessful with using the
Upload a HTML file
option. Here I was told to download a file and them upload to my website and then test it, no good.

Bottom-line, I can't get past the Google verification requirement much less submit to Google. The "old" sitemapper submitted to Google but now I'm out of luck. HELP!

Thanks

The old version never actually submitted to Google. All we did was collect the url's on your behalf and then used the Google API to submit them. The problem was about 6 months ago Google removed that option and now you have to go through the process you are attempting to use now.

Google offers two options for verification. You can add the meta information or you can simply upload an HTML page. You may find the second option a bit easier to do.

I tried uploading the HTML by coping the code to a file and uploading using CC FTP. Naturally Google didn't recognize it. Is there some way to upload the HTML that I don't know about.
Thanks

For me, when I click Upload an HTML file, I get this:

1. Download this HTML verification file. [googleaa3764fdbca12386.html]

2. Upload the file to http://coffeecup.com/

3. Confirm successful upload by visiting http://coffeecup.com/googleaa3764fdbca12386.html in your browser.

4. Click the verify button below.

I just saved the googleaa3764fdbca12386.html and uploaded that to my server.

My problem is when I try to upload. I haven't found a way to save the code
google-site-verification: google6ba2bfd12f1c6415.html
without a file name that I could upload with CC FTP. I named the code verify.txt and uploaded it to my website. It goes to [Lunar] /public_html/. Here's what I get when I try to confire:

I'm tearing my hair out.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Using my example in step 1, there is no code I had to copy. Google created the page for me called google6ba2bfd12f1c6415.html and by clicking the download link, my browser saved that to my computer. I then uploaded the file google6ba2bfd12f1c6415.html to my server.

I'm using IE 8 and the help information is not very helpful. How do you upload it to your server?

With Direct FTP, but Free FTP would work just as well. If you are having a problem uploading, just use the meta method. Use whatever Web editor you have and add the code to the top of the page. For me, this is what they give me:

<meta name="google-site-verification" content="fgAFEoe7F_tp-iZdnmy9PITFT0sjEgL0FzSQj8czd-c" />

Ok, you are doing it wrong. You don't put http://www.myneatstuff.com/verify.txt it should be http://www.myneatstuff.com/google6ba2bfd12f1c6415.html

As the instructions say:

1. Download this HTML verification file. [google6ba2bfd12f1c6415.html]

2. Upload the file to http://www.myneatstuff.com/

3. Confirm successful upload by visiting http://www.myneatstuff.com/google6ba2bfd12f1c6415.html in your browser.

4. Click the verify button below.
