How to create a sitemap

To create a sitemap with a hierachy of subpages within the homepage,
do I have to create it first in the mywebsite.vnu_website folder on my computer, and then upload it to the public_html folder?

I found that if I saved my website in VSD, then all the pages were uploaded to the public_html folder all at the same level - the sitemap then is just a mixture of pages and show no hierarchy of subpages at all.

Please help,
Lily:(

Since all pages in VSD are created at the same level, it most likely won't matter at what stage you run Google SiteMapper. I'm assuming that you're using this program. Physically moving the html files into subfolders would break the links within the pages, so I'd sooner recommend opening the html file that SiteMapper generates and manually editing the layout in an HTML editor (like indenting the links/pages that should be considered a subcategory).

Thank you Adam, I am going to try and indent using the &nbsp: that is already present in the html file. If I change the order of the pages will they stay there, or revert to the original numerical sorted order?

Many thanks,

I'm honestly not sure. I guess you'll find out soon. :P Sorry, not very helpful, I know.
