Hi everyone,
I work in web development and SEO, and I often see projects that start in a visual site builder and later hit limits. I would like to hear from people who use Site Designer day-to-day.
Where visual builders work very well, in my experience:
- small business and portfolio sites
- projects where one person builds and maintains everything
(Edit: I removed a link here because it has been reported as containing a Trojan!)
Where I usually see problems appear:
- page speed and Core Web Vitals when a lot of generated code and large assets pile up
- custom features such as logins, bookings, or checkout that need backend code
- SEO details like clean heading structure, schema markup, and page titles that are hard to control
- handing the site over to someone who only knows a CMS
Questions for you:
1. What was the first limit you ran into with Site Designer, and how did you work around it?
2. Do you edit the exported HTML and CSS by hand, or stay fully inside the editor?
3. At what point did you move a project to a CMS or a custom build, if ever?
4. Any tips for keeping exported pages fast on mobile?
Thanks, and I am happy to share what has worked for me in return.
