Hello Gurus!!

When making a site for someone, what is the best way you have found to offer a page for upcoming events? Is there a CMS that works well with RSD so they can change and add it themselves? What does a good layout look like for such a page? I'm having a hard time finding inspiration of what that looks like (I have seen some ugly ones...want it to be nice looking).

Thanks to everyone for all the great ideas and tutorials I have seen on these boards.

Hi Mark,
I like using the form builder to submit the data to a database.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

This is a site I built for my work.(RSD)

Make a form to submit the data to a mysql database.
Then you use some php scripts on your page to retrieve the latest data.

Thanks, again, Eric...so I Googled each of those and think I might be able to "create" mysql db ...maybe attempt the php bit, but not sure at all how to make them work together with wfb. Is there an example / tutorial made using cc software?

Might be a bit above my skill level at this point ha!

Mark, a very easy non-technical way to do something like this would be to embed a twitter feed into the page.
The client can create a new twitter account solely for the purpose of event listings for the company and then whenever they do a new tweet it will show up on the page automatically. Really easy for them to update and simple to implement as well.

I have a twitter feed on this site that I did: https://stormfrenzy.com/ if you'd like to see. You can embed any feed by going to their twitter page and selecting 'embed this feed' from the ... menu on the right.

If you use the formbuilder to submit data to a database you've got a big part done.
All you have to do is enter the user and database setting into the formbuilder and it will create the table for you.
As far as getting the databack for display that can be done with a little php in your rsd page. I thought I posted an example a while back but cc's search feature is down so I didn't have time to look through all of the results. I guess we need to know what data and how you want it to display.

Thanks, Jeff. Interesting idea and makes sense.
Eric...thanks for the info. I'll give it a try when I get time. And, if you run across your post, please post a link to it.
I appreciate all the input.

I'm very busy at work at the moment. I'm trying to do a side jb also and turned down one other one because of concerns of time. I will get back to this when I get a chance.
