RSD and the Autumn theme - Page 1

I am trying to use the Autumn theme and would like to make the header less wide. I can't seem to do this without negatively impacting the overall content. I don't mind the darker background staying "full size", but would like the header to be more in line with the width of the content of the site. Can anyone help me figure this out? You can see an example of the template here: http://www.imagesbyhopper.com/testing/index.html

thanks,
Michelle

Are you hand coding this? It is not a RSD output. Normally, one would just say to click the box for the row width to give it the width you want. And resize the columns, or - however you have them set up.

try adding this as custom css:

body > .row.header { max-width: 900px; margin: 0 auto; } before media queries.

Hi Bill,
the html was exported out of RSD.

This is what I see in RSD for the column settings

this is what I see in RSD for the row settings

When I tried to modify them, it messed up the full site alignment, not just the header. I just don't want the header to go all the way across, because I don't like how my tagline looks when it is on a full computer screen (it is too far away from the logo), I like how it looks on the smaller devices because it is closer together.

I hope that makes some sort of sense! ;)

Go to the Design Tab, and adjust the row's dimension settings, or columns. You are on the Layout tab, there you just set up the elements of the grid system. Or you may be able to do it on this Layout tab by adjusting the spans of the columns. Earlier, I thought you meant the entire header row, if just the description, you can do that within columns.

It appears that the entire yellow ares is a subgrid, and the bottom row of the subgrid provide a vertical space. You will need to adjust the subgrid, or redo it. You cn even put items beside each other if you give them a container and proper heights and change the float properties, or just change the size/span of the columns. I don't have access to this template, it did not come with 1.5.

Are you using version 1.5? Version 1.5 should be outputting a lot more header tags, including " <meta name="generator" content="Responsive Site Designer 1.5.1419">"

Bill,
thanks for the reminder to look at my version of RSD, I was running 1.1. I am currently installing 1.5 and maybe, with your other suggestions, I might make more progress. Fingers crossed :)

Well, if that template came with 1.1, I don't think its available in 1.5. Maybe its a file you can open up anyway - but save the original.

Bill,
Sorry, I forgot to mention it, but this was a responsive template I purchased from CoffeeCup. It is a separate file that I can open in RSD, I am just having a hard time figuring out how to modify it. I did try again, with 1.5 but didn't have any luck. I will take another crack at it tomorrow.

Thanks for sticking with me!

By the way, these are not the easiest to find on the website (not sure why that is?), but this is where I got the website template: https://www.coffeecup.com/store/themes/ … or-themes/

These themes are for our HTML Editor, and not for RSD. They were originally created with RLM and exported for use with our Editor.
