I have two questions about using PDFs in RSD.

1. My PDF is about 3.5MB and RSD always has a note saying that it is recommended that files be 1MB or smaller. I have already compressed my file and it cannot be any smaller. Does anyone have any recommendations about what I can do to make my file smaller?

2. A note also came up on RSD saying the following:
"Also, please consider storing large files that are not used in the production website, outside of the Project Resources. This will speed up opening, saving and exporting projects."
I believe that my PDFs should be placed in a docs or pdfs folder in my Project Resources, but the note seems to say otherwise. Should I or should I not place my PDFs in a folder in the Project Resources?

That is just a recommendation. If you cannot make it any smaller, then it is what it is. Just remember mobile users not on WiFi have a 3mb PDF to download.


If you are adding a multitude of very large files that are not used that often, it is best to have them stored elsewhere, maybe something like Dropbox. You can then link to those files as needed. This way there would be no need to have them under the project resources.

You are not able to upload the pdf file to your website server in a folder labeled pdf? If you can, now you could go to www.thatwebsite.com/pdf. You should see your pdf file. Click it. Now highlight the url and copy that url and link in to your RSD.

www.thatwebsite.com/pdf being an example. You would need to add the correct information. This way will work.
