Hello all,

My name is Rob. I am not a new visitor to this forum but this is my first post. I have been following this forum for a few years but so far have not had the courage to start a new website. Because I can no longer change and upload my "old" website without danger, I really have to start with the new site. My old program no longer works well on my new iMac with OS Mojave. So I started learning.

I have been working on the exact reconstruction of my old site for a few days now and it is not disappointing. I have already made the first components for the unity of the site. Simple components because it doesn't have to be fancy. I have to say that things are going well, but I have now come across the first bump. The navigation.

I downloaded the "Simple dropdown menu" from the sharing page of Inger (thank you Inger) and started playing with it. I would like white text links on a dark background. When you hover over the text, I want the text to remain white. I just can't get it right with the buttons that also have a submenu underneath. There the text becomes link-blue every time you hover it. Someone can probably tell me how I can change that. I can't figure it out yet.

I have an example in my Dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/s/dsc6pf42859lbm2/sd3-simple-menu1.rsd?dl=1
I am not so successful with that URL either.:rolleyes:

Kind regards,
Robert

Hi Rob,

Before I open your file, please tell me which version of Site Designer you are using. We are in the middle of changing over to a new version which is not backwards compatible, so If I edit your file with a newer version than you have, you won't be able to open it afterwards.

I see that there is already a newer version. A newer update. If you blink your eyes for a moment.

Yeah, there was an update today :)

The error with the colour of the drop-down buttons is a known flaw in the Foundation system. To rectify it, you need to add another class to the buttons with a dropdown and apply the same colour styles once again, to all the states (link, hover, visited, focus and active).

See if it works better now,

Thank you very much Inger. It's working. Only the little arrow turns blue but I can live with that. In the past I have in an earlier version of SD, I believe in 2.5 or 3, and an earlier attempt to start learning SD, I also had this problem and then gave up after a while. I have not thrown that navigation away and will see if I can solve it myself with the instructions you have given me. If I succeed I will let you know. Hope I can do this. It will not be tomorrow because we have a full campsite. For now I can use your "sd-simple-menu" which is actually very nice for my purpose. I just need to copy some buttons and I don't need a sub-sub menu. (or whatever you call it) Maybe it's not as simple as I say it now, but we'll see. Fun to play with the app. And thank you for making so many great things.

Thanks again and regards,
Rob

The change I made is working also for the wee triangles, in Ffx, Chrome, Opera and Edge (Windows 10). Since I don't have a Mac, I can't test on Safari. And this flaw in Foundation that I mentioned, hasn't always been there. Earlier, we just had to change the colour of those triangles. I've dug out a piece of css that I got from another forum user some 2 years ago. I haven't used it for quite some time, but you may try it. You just need to find out which class to apply it to, I don't remember exactly. Here it is:

<style>
.accordion-menu :not(.has-submenu-toggle).is-accordion-submenu-parent > a::after {
border: none;
}
</style>

Pop it into the header section in the page manager.
