Multi-column layouts

I'm rebuilding a website that I upgraded from RSD to SD3.5 and it didn't export some of the files the way SD does with a new project.

I needed a 3 column layout and a 4 column layout below the 3 column.

I had just clicked on the 3 column and added the content which worked fine. When I added the 4 column layout I then realized I had used the CSS Grid for the 3 column. I'm using FF so when I selected the 4 column I tried the Framework version.

When I went to the style area I found that the 4 column layout was classed as a 'row'. I thought that was a thing of the past so can anyone explain the difference between the two versions of the multi-column layouts and where to use each?

Thanks for any education.

You can still use the layout classes row and column. They are still containers, though, not the fairly rigid old rows/column system.
If you use the ready-made layout for multiple columns, you get them ready styled with spans for the various viewports. They are put side by side with floats.

Personally, I prefer styling the columns myself, so I just create a container, then in the style pane I go down to 'Multiple column layout' and set it up manually.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Hi,
New to SD, using SD3.5. I've created a set of photo galleries, 2 columns, in the wide desktop view. Each photo is in a container containing a photo and a header (showing photo number ) when I scale project down to tablet or phone view, the photos and headers get out of order. I'm probably not setting up correctly- can someone explain or direct me to the appropriate area in the help materials? Thanks

If you could post your project file, so that we could see the problem, it would be much easier to assist you.
We need to know which framework you are using, and how those columns and containers have been set up, and why the narrow view doesn't show what you want.

You could also take a look at my sharing site, see url in my singature. I have some galleries there. Maybe you will find something you can use, or get some ideas. If you find something useful, you can download the source code.

Yes, too much to upload here. Maybe if you pop it in a dropbox or similar.
