I need to add Googel verification code to my site but cannot see how to access the code to add to the head. This was easy and obvious in Responsive Site Designer, but not in this new version.

Click on Pages in the top tool bar, them Manage project. Scroll down to Custom code settings, the head section. Add the verification code there.
