Fixed backround image not working in iOS
The fixed background images on my site (greymatters.com.au/U3A_Wallan) work fine in Windows, Android and Mac but do not work properly on iOS (iPad and iPhone).
Does anyone have a solution to this?

Hi Bruce,
I do believe IOS doesn't support it and the images scroll with the page.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Thanks for the response Eric. I thought as much because I looked at a couple of the RSD example sites and they were the same.
In the tutorial on how to create fixed background images, you set the background image size to "Cover" which is obviously right for Windows etc but in iOS it is so big that the image is completely lost.
Is there any way of identifying that it is being viewed on iOS and therefore changing the image parameters for that case?

I have a site that has the fixed backgrounds like yours and at about 760px I switch them to scroll. That makes the image fill the div that's holding it and scroll with the content.

Thanks again Eric. That's a great idea, I'll try that.
I just started working with parallax effects so my knowledge is very limited. I was not even aware of the fixed background technique you are using but remember some discussions about it.
Just last night I stumbled across a plugin called skrollr that appears to work on my iphone. I was going to do some testing today so I do not know of any performance issues yet.
https://prinzhorn.github.io/skrollr/ is the demo that works on my iphone.
Here is another link that talks about advance methods of removing skrollr at lower breakpoints. I have other ideas to use this plugin for too...

As I said, nothing tested but looks promising. I definitely need to learn your technique though....thanks !

Hi Twinstream,
Sorry I have been offline for a few days. That skrollr looks pretty wild. I'll have to have a play with it.
Here's the link to the fixed background tutorial, if you haven't got it already, http://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles/fixed-background/
Thanks for the skrollr tip.
