Hey guys,

People have been asking for more documentation. One of the things we did is write short tips that a few of the fundamentals. We plan to include them a tutorial theme in V1.5. You can find the latest version here:

http://rsd.coffeecup.com/tips-v09.html

Feedback appreciated!

ps. If you want to write a tip yourself, you can use the template in the V1.5 beta — we can bundle them and publish them as well. That would be really cool

I'd like to have links to all the current resources collected in such a tutorial. So that people don't have to search through articles, go to different YouTube channels etc to find them. The resources can stay where they are, but please make a page with links to all of them! If new resources appear, we would of course have to add them ourselves.

Not sure what you mean with 'ourselves' Inger. I did add a link to the tips (below the TOC), is that what you mean?

Bob, don't know if you already had read my reply or not, but I change the contents of it now, as I have learnt that I wasn't well enough informed about all the documentation you actually have for RSD.

I guess users will approach RSD and the help articles in different ways, and regarding the paragraph below, from my original reply to you, I still think it would be a good idea. :)

I see the 'Search articles' buttons at the bottom of the various explanations. When clicking on them, you are taken to the whole bunch of articles, also for all the other CC programmes. If that search could filter so that only RSD related articles appear, it would be much easier for someone to find what they are looking for.

I'm not new to web design, but I am brand new to RSD. I cannot find anywhere on the website that tells me how to access or apply a theme. I thought I'd start learning this program with an existing theme, and then customize it once I learn the program. I assumed I needed to create a file called "themes" in my resources, and then drop the theme files there, but I don't know how to apply any of them to a new website/page. Can anyone please give me some guidance.

Welcome to RSD! :)

You do not apply a theme to an existing website. You will use these themes as a template to re-design your website with them. To use any of these themes, open RSD and go to the File Menu > Open and select the theme you want to use. You can then adjust the images and content with your texts and images.

Of course, if you get stuck, we are all here to help.

Maddi, open the theme you want to work with, then go to file - save as theme - and give it a name. You will be able to open it in RSD when you go to My Themes in the opening theme chooser. Physically, you will find your themes in Documents - Coffeecup Software - Responsive Site Designer - Themes - My themes.

I would love to see the new Tips for Getting Started in a sticky thread at the top of this forum along with another sticky for the Resource Index.

It's not easy to search the help articles if you don't know what to call or describe what you're looking for, or if it even exists. And they're in no particular order, so scrolling through them can be frustrating. Having these links always handy right here would be great. :D

Also, having all the links right here would make it easier to help other users. As it is, I often look through the forum threads to find links because a search in the help articles turns up nothing, or not the particular article I've seen before.

Great idea! Will do as soon as I find a fixed / long term location for the Tips page.
