Shopping Cart Preview Error

Hi,
I'm trying to preview my cart and I'm getting an error

Failure while previewing!!

Couldn't preview the shop.

I had no problem viewing until I added multiple photos to the item-- but not sure if that's the problem. I'll keep playing with it.

I'm loving what I'm seeing so far though!

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue with our software. I would like to try a few things to determine the cause of the crash. Here are the steps I would like you to take:

1. Hold down the Shift key and double-click the Shopping Cart Creator desktop shortcut. A dialog box will appear asking if you wish to enable the log file. Answer Yes and make a note of the provided path.

2. Try to recreate the issue that caused Shopping Cart Creator to crash.

3. When it crashes, e-mail the log file to us.

4. Send me your SharedSettings.ccs located at

XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\

Vista:
C:\Users[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming

It's also important for you to provide the following information:

1. Describe what you were trying to do when it crashes.
2. What is your operating system?
3. What version if IE do you have installed?
4. Are there any firewalls or antivirus applications running?

After you send me this, try one other thing. Make a backup of the SharedSettings.ccs file and delete it. Uninstall Shopping Cart and Re-install it. See if that helps.

Once we have all this information, we should have a better understanding of the issue.

I've got the exact same problem - was there a resolution to this? I was previewing fine and had no problem with multiple items. Had about 20 items added - no issues previewing. I came back the next day.... added a few more items and tried to preview and got the error. At first I thought it was because I put an ampersand in one of the Group names, but then noticed I had done that with a group that was added last night and it previewed no problem. Now my products.xml file is blank.... I am really hopeing I haven't lost my 10 hours of work. Any ideas?

What version are you using Justin? 3.1 is the most current build.

I have upgraded to 3.1 and now have a new problem (no idea if the preview thing is a problem still or not).... All of my items (products) are gone. The groups are still there... but no items. I looked at the products.xml and the items are all still in there.... but when I load the store in SCC, there are only categories. I have asked for support, but apparently it takes a full day to get a response and going by the support page, no one works weekends... so I am dead in the water until Monday unless someone here can help me figure this out. I really don't want to spend another 10 hours building all of these products again... especially since it is unclear why this happened (and therefore I guess it can happen again since I don't know what I did to cause it).

And I guess I didn't do my due diligence before buying this software - I was happy with your HTML Editor and you sent me a special for this software so I bought it... now I realize it is fairly useless to me without some sort of calculated shipping integration - especially with USPS because about half of my sales are International. If this sort of functionality is upcoming, I guess I can grow as the software grows - I'm only doing about $10,000 a month in revenues right now and am in the early stages of determining what inventory I want to carry long term. But if more advanced functionality like inventory control and calculated shipping is not in the future plans, please let me know now so I can go ahead and cut my losses and buy another software program. Thanks. Justin

Try double clicking on the category and your products shoud re-appear.

Is anyone else having a problem with publishing there shopping cart. It seems to freeze and won't finish??????? This is the first time I tried to publish it with the new upgrade???? And I seem to be having the same issue with preview I close the program and re open it and it there again?????

i had same problem with it freezing

i deleted the ftp details and re enterd them and it is ok now

i have 4 carts operational, the problem only occured on one of them

All double clicking does is expand or collapse that category. It has no effect on making my items reappear.

If the products are viewable in the software but not when you upload, you probably then clicked the "globe" icon next to each item and group to "un-publish" them. Click the globe icon again and then upload.
