Dang.... :) I thought you were going to say that... How can I do what was proposed above without corrupting the .sct file?

I can't believe I did that! lol

Anyway to reverse engineer what I have live to recreate the .sct file?

Have you tried re-associating those file extensions with our software?

I actually never dis-associated them. It's still associated with SCDP. I did the following:
1. opened winzip
2. opened the file using *.* all file types, opened the sct file
3. navigated through the file to find cart.xml, double clicked it and it opened in notepad
4. found the Shipping & Handling text and replaced two instances with Shipping
5. saved the file, went back to Winzip and it asked me if it wanted to update the file as it was modified outside of the compressed file
6. I said yes, it did and then I tried to open it, all the while saying to myself, this will probably corrupt the file -- I forgot to make a copy first...
7. SCDP confirmed my fears
8. bashed head against keyboard
9. cried, just a little
10. composed myself and searched for solutions. :)

It was a pretty simple 10 step process :)

Scott -- I have news! I discovered a .bak file that looks like it was created automatically... I don't know how, but it was...

It was saved yesterday midday, so I don't know how or why it was created, but it was created.

Any idea on that? It had an extension of .sct.bak

Maybe WinZip made one? That was a good find. ;)

No kidding, right? I was thrilled... No, I don't think WinZip had anything to do with it as I just installed it an hour or so ago...

So SCDP doesn't make backups on its own? I wonder where the heck it came from? It had a creation date of 9/21/10 at 12:26 PM... I checked my date and it's correct, so it was made yesterday. I wonder how that happened. Anyway, happy as can be about it.

Back to the OP topic --
Is there any way to modify the cart.xml, without corrupting the .SCT file? :)

I don't think it is in our best interests to teach people how to hack the shop files. That would be a nightmare in support. ;). I can just hear the screams.......

I understand... Guess I'll have to give it a whirl on my own. I know how to get it fixed the way I want it, just can't seem to figure out how to get it out of WinZip...
Oh well... I have to get that Handling word out of there...

Both Cart Creator and the Shopping Cart Designer produce all of the files to complete the finished shop. Whilst is it possible to alter some of the files it creates, many of these changes will simply get overwritten when the shop updates again.

Scott is right about the files being hacked creating problems. By all means play around with them on an offline test shop, but never on a live shop as there can be unseen consequences that could make your shop inoperable. A 'dead' shop will generate zero sales. :)
