Return to the shop problem

When I am on this page "shop/checkoutpps.php?connect" in either PayPal or Authorize.net my
Return to the shop link takes me back to the cart.php page instead of my shop page. Where can I find this to change the link.

Thanks

We're told it is designed to work that way. If the "return to shop" link goes to any page other than the cart, the shopping cart isn't emptied properly. That is to say, items will still appear in a customer's cart, which could cause confusion about whether the order was completed properly. At least that's what I remember being posted somewhere in the forum.

That is correct. Also, with the launch of SCC Pro, there will be inventory management. It will be even more important for that URL to remain that way so that the inventory is properly decremented after a purchase.

My question is why choosing return to shopping would you want to empty the cart the idea is to continue allowing to add products before the final checking out.

That link is there when the order process has completed. You do want it to clear out the cart so they don't attempt to re-order the same items again.

It appears that you are asking two different questions.

In your first post, you state: "When I am on this page [...] in either PayPal or Authorize.net..." This would appear AFTER checkout is complete.

In your second post, you state: "...the idea is to continue allowing to add products before the final checking out..."

This seems to me that you are wanting to add a "Continue Shopping" link BEFORE the customer completes the checkout process. You can easily add a "Continue Shopping" link on the View Cart Page (in SCC, select the Pages button and then the View Cart tab and add the code to create a link).

I went to your site, added a product, and selected the Checkout button (the Authorize.net one) and now see what you are referring to (see attached screen print). You are talking about the "Return to the Shop" button in the "warning" box (I hate that message, by the way, and hope Pro will allow us to turn it off). I don't know how to change the link that button points to; Scott, technical support, or someone else may be able to help you.

By the way, I received the following error message after clicking "Proceed to Checkout:"

Unfortunately there is no way to prevent that and it will remain unchanged in the Pro version as well.

So, will the customer have to click on the Done - return to cart link after a transaction's relay response returns to the cart for it to remove the item from inventory?

Unfortunately yes. That is the only way we have found for us to know the transaction is complete The API with Authorize.net is not as flexible as PayPal and other merchants so that click is required. For the most part, users shouldn't have too much of a problem with it.
