Hiya,

I am wondering if there is a way to link to other products pages? I have some things that will have matching counterparts that I would like to put links to those other items in each of their descriptions. I see there is a way to link to outside pages, but I don't know what those link addresses would be when I'm still inside the builder making the shopping cart. Is there a way to do this?

Ok so I found my answer, kind of hehe. I see after uploading a test site that it goes by category and actual item number in the list of items down the page, but it could get messy when you have 100's of products at some point I think. What if later you decide to discontinue some other items in between them or before them, etc.? That means you have to once again count all your items till you see which one it is?

Is there some way in the program to see what Group number and Product ID number an item is listed as? I know, strange questions but I know I will be having a lot of items that have matching counterparts so I'll want to link back and forth to them.

You can use the link function to really link to any Website address you like. Just go through your shop and click on the product you want to link to. Copy that Website address and then use that for your link.

Well yes lol, I realize I can do that, but that's twice the work to have to update it, upload it, search your site for the items in question (the search would happen online or offline so that part don't matter lol), edit it to change the numbers for all the links, and then reupload it again everytime you change your store content when an item falls before the others that have matches etc.

I guess what I'm asking is, does the program itself have somewhere to look for the group number and product id number of the items? If not I'll make that suggestion so I don't have to go through all that just to find a number or 2 later :)
Seems like it shouldn't be a hard thing to implement this as it has to read this information to create the pages etc. anyways right? Dunno, just my thoughts on it, not sure how many people would benefit from this, but I know I would, and will a lot more in the future too.

Part of the problem Jo Ann, is that this program as with all programs works purely with numbers. Each item has a numeric placeholder so the program knows where to find it. This is reflected in the unique url it creates. Most carts use this protocol and very few of them actually offer a related products feature.

Apart from having two cart windows open to cut and paste, I can't think of a simple solution to resolve this for you. Your product 'browser' is the cart itself and the most logical way to find your related products. When the price related options comes out in the pro version, you'd be able to incorporate those extra items along the lines of 'Matching hat (+$10.00)'.

I can see the real benefit of featuring related products within the shop. Perhaps a simple 'we have other xxxxxxx items in our shop' might reduce the burden? :/

I think you're misunderstanding what I'm asking for though Will, I'm not really wanting a full blown out "related products" setup in the program, I am only wanting to be able to see the Category Number and Product ID of the items when I click on them in the Program when building my shopping cart so that I don't have to upload the cart just to find the page a specific item is on so I can create my own links to my related products within the descriptions. I guess I'm just thinking even a greyed out box with the numbers in them so we can see what they are would be perfect. Once we have the initial site address for any page for a product it's just then a matter of pasting the correct numbers into the link address.

I hope that makes sense lol, it's late and I'm tired and I shouldn't answer these things at night this late LOL.

Anyways it's just an informational box with the numbers in it I'm looking for, nothing that needs to be added to the cart for uploading or linking, just our own info box for knowing the numbers ourselves when building so we can create our links ourselves easier :)

Check out a program called xampp. This is a free piece of development software, that works on your pc and essentially replicates your web server. This allows you to run your shop offline on your pc and have all the functions available. Unlike the preview function you will be able to see all of the location urls. Use the file/ export shop for upload fuction within SCC to put your files within the htdocs folder of xampp. You can view your working shop offline and also have another window open to see your online shop as well. This is currently the only way to achieve what you want.

Hope this helps :)
