Hi

Is it possible to integrate a shopping cart created with Shopping Cart Creator into an existing website or does the shoping cart need to stand alone as its own site??

Hi Colin,

I'm in the process of building a separate website holding my home page, contact, catalog, etc. and links in various places to send users to the shopping cart. I'll be putting the cart in it's own folder and will just link to it. I'm sure someone has a site like you describe already up.

You can integrate very easily with IFrames. Just watch the template you choose....evaluating width or you may have an undesirable horz. scrollbar.

There are those that are agaist Iframes, however they are very useful in some circumstances. You can edit the parent page to meet your visual requirements. You can publish forms, etc on the parent page.

There is a thread somewhere challangeing the SEO capabilities of doing so but I believe it was determined this was bassed on old docs.

Colin

If you want to integrate the shop with your website i.e. have the same layout for both then you can use CC templates that give you the same style for your website and shop.

If you want to have your own website layout but have the shop look and feel like your own website then you can edit the banner with the same image you use for your website to give it the same look and feel. You can even edit the colour of the webshop to match those of your website if you can work with css styles and a bit of php.

As lasercrow mentioned just keep the shop in a separate folder and on your menu or any other place link to it.

Hope this helps.

I only took a glimpse at the cart so far but you can conform the cart to look and behave exactly like your existing website.

The cart generates PHP and XML files utilizing some javascript for behaviors, etc. If you are comfortable there are only a handful of PHP files which can be edited to make the cart look anyway you want.

I am a developer and have used large scale commercial PHP carts but have been looking for a script or simple to use shop that would help me setup small online shops for customers with fewer than 50 products. This looks like the solution I have been looking for. Plus I always liked Coffeecup - the free editor was a big deal for me when I was starting out.

I could be wrong but it also appears that if you are comfortable you could just edit the XML files Categories and Products to add to your store instead of launching the shop editor. I am not sure as I only glanced at the files the cart generates.
