After adding items to my cart and clicking on the check out button. I received a paypal error that said:
"The seller accepts encrypted website payments only. You can not pay the seller through an un-encrypted button. Please contact your seller for more details."
I didn't know what this mean but after searching the forum I found this:
https://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles … -an-error/
Then I remember that I have been changing my paypal acccount settings with the many other shopping carts I have been trying.
- I went to my paypal account
- I enter in my profile
- I Clicked Website Payment Preferences under selling preference.
- Then I choose the Website Payment option under the Encrypted Website Payments section.
- Clicked save.
This fixed the problem but I'm wondering if I'm putting at risk my paypal account or the customers information. I don't know anything about encrypted stuff. I don't even know what does encrypted means. I guess is a kind of security code. If anybody could explain this, I will be forever thankful.
I hope this help, if anyone is having the same problem.
I fixed up my paypal error message.
The only thing you are transmitting over the net from your cart to PayPal is item information. Your customer enters personal and financial info only on the PayPal site when they pay and it is encrypted. So I'd say you are not disclosing any important info about your customer.
Now if you were to collect credit card info on your site and then transmit that info over the net to PayPal, you would need the encryption.
