This is a question for the Dev's.....

Have they looked at Website Payments Pro through Paypal.

It works with the Paypal express checkout API.

And....

It gives merchants the option of accepting credit cards from customers without Paypal accounts.

Includes a Virtual Terminal for phone/fax orders.

Is a merchant account & gateway in one.

The fees are very reasonable.

Works Globally, supports 18 currencies.

Devs, can you guys have a look at this feature since you are already set up with Paypal?????

"It gives merchants the option of accepting credit cards from customers without Paypal accounts."

I believe that Paypal does accept customer to pay with credit cards without having an account. I have done it several time.

MrTrader,

Yes Paypal has that option and I used it many times with my old shopping cart.

But this shopping cart is not able to do that as it uses the express API instead of the IPN module of Paypal.

With CC shopping cart you can only process payments from customers that have or are willing to open a Paypal account.

Gary,

I disagree, I was asking if the Dev's had looked at Paypal PRO.

PRO version is very different from the standard paypal.

In reading & researching it looks like it might be compatable with the shopping cart as it utilizes the express API checkout.

If the shopping cart is/could be compatable with PRO version it might actually SOLVE many of the issues that were discussed in the thread you quoted.

We use PayPal Express so that we can have a shopping basket and send multiple items at once over to PayPal. PayPal Standard and Pro put some limits on using that sort of functionality. I can't see us moving to any other option in the foreseeable future.

Maybe i'm just not being clear enough. Coffee Cup doesn't need to move in any new direction, you are already aligned with Paypal.

Within Paypal there are several different types of accounts that a vendor/seller can have. They all offer different options & service levels. Some use the API and some use the IPN. Coffee Cup has chosen the API and Express checkout. We all know that.

If I as a vendor upgrade to the Paypal PRO account it will give me the option to accept credit card payments from customers who do not have a paypal account via a virtual terminal.

Therefore, problem solved in a round-a-bout way without cc having to add/change anything.

However you guys need to determine if the code going back and forth is compatable.

I'm not asking you to add or change anything as it has become clear that is not a priority for you. But I the customer can't determine if your code with be compatable with paypal's code.

I am asking the Dev's to see if this will work. Your cart already works with paypal's express checkout. PRO works with express checkout.

If you determine that this will in fact work, I can upgrade Paypal on my end to PRO and ultimately solve the problem with a work-around.

I understand what Rosey and Scott are saying.

Rosey, I already have a client that thinks he has lost customers due to being forced into having a PayPal account, or signing up for one. He (and I) would like the option of his customers just paying with a credit card but not having (or wanting) a PayPal account.

Scott, I understand the "keep it simple" cart. Multiple items in one step sounds great unless you think you are missing sales because of PayPal's Express Check Out. Is it possible to integrate both (PayPal Express checkout and PayPal Standard checkout) into CC's cart creator and give the option to the user?

I still don't see what the big deal is. I made a test sale to myself and paid with paypal. When I got to paypal I had to make an account which provided my personal information needed to complete the sale to paypal. Now, no matter what the customer wants, he has to provide me with anaddress and email address so I can ship his product to him. To me it doesn't make a difference whether my customers provide their info before they can get to checkout or after. Either way, they have to give this info in order to complete the sale.
Plus you can give them the google checkout option which doesn't require an account be made. But, they still have to enter their personal info to complete the sale. Same as Paypal.
If your customers don't like the paypal option, direct them to the google option, or don't even give them the paypal option if you think it bothers them that bad.
For most of the retailers I talked to this is a non-issue, and certainly not even close to being as important as getting taxes working properly. Shipping options are more important also.
Spell it out to your customers in each items description area so they know what their payment options are. What you are stressing yourselves over is info that needs to be collected anyway. Who cares if it comes in the form of an account with paypal. Let them know that once they sign up all their purchases on the web will be safer and faster for them.
