Omg can you believe this? I was uploading to the wrong place I didn't put the /public_html/ in front of the /shop/ directory that was already in the space. I didn't think about it even since the /shop/ was already there I figured that must be what it is. I just finally went to look to see if the settings were different on the other server and lo and behold I was missing that directory in front.

It has uploaded now just fine, sorry for the confusion. Maybe that box should remain blank where it asks for the remote folder so we don't assume it's correct lol.

Having multiple sites in development I export the files to a local folder on my pc, then upload via a separate ftp program, so I know they are going to exactly the right site folder.

Yeah I've thought about doing this too, I only have one shop at the moment, I was just uploading it to a different server so that people wouldn't start thinking they could buy stuff if they stumbled on it or were checking out the page lol.

Could my server be the culprit on this, not refreshing things fast enough? Because man this will be a major problem later if I'm trying to upload new items and changes and sales and they don't show up for like days at a time, this one took quite a few days before it all of a sudden just started to work.

I promise you I did absolutely nothing to make this work, it just out of the blue showed up, and that happens to a few things here and there on me, so I'm wondering if that might be serverside issues? If so I can talk to them about it.

One thing to eliminate in the equation Jo Ann, is the dns cache on your computer as that can often give erroneous results, with site development.

To clear the dsn cache on you computer click start/run and type the following into the box and click ok. ipconfig /flushdns

Doing that ensures you are seeing the latest variant of your site, rather than one that has been previously stored.

ohhhhhhh that's a good idea. now the only problem is that I have no idea if anyone else saw the things I wasn't seeing so I don't know if it was actually on the site and I couldn't see it or if it was not there at all and a quirk somewhere. I will for sure keep that in mind and do that right now just so it's cleared. Thanks as always Will

I was advised to do , ctrl f5 after every upload for similar reasons

And numerouse times the page has changed instantly to the newer version.

What is Ctrl F5 for? I know F5 refreshes your screen, not sure what the combo with Ctrl is.

F5 utilises cached content in browsers, whereas control F5 discards cached content. It isn't universal accross all variants of browers though.

Using ipconfig /flushdns definitively clears the cache on your computer.
