Are you serious?

After reading many posts here regarding this software I have come to some basic conclusions. Please correct me if I am wrong.

1. The pages this creates are not search engine friendly.

2. Limited to no ability to change web pages (ie. add banners, change layout, customize, etc.)

So with these basic conclusions and observations why on earth would I want to purchase this and use for a web business?

I want the pages to be search engine friendly. I want to be able to customize the look and feel of my site without being locked into one of the generic templates.

I want the ability to add banners and other links to pages, etc. without having to reinvent the wheel each time I add or change a product.

Until then I dont look at this software as a serious option for using for a website business on even the most basic of levels.

Any comments?

Hello

I do not think that this software is the all in all. Why don't you look at all the shops that have been posted there and I am sure that their owners are making a dollar with them...

Have a great day

Yes, I have lots of comments..but I'll stick to the topic, :P

The shopping cart software was made to be easy to use and produce a useable shopping cart without any programming knowledge...AND THAT's what it does..and it does it quite nicely.

CoffeeCup has stated that they have every intention of creating a 'styler' program that lets you customize the look and feel of your shopping cart to your website, with many options that are not part of the shopping cart software. It's just not out yet.

You are free to make as many changes as you would like. (CoffeeCup may not support those changes, but...) If you re-save with the program, it will go back to it's default for that template, so keep a file of your prefered changes for now until the 'styler' program is available.

Not search engine friendly? Why not..who said so? These are web page. If you like, keep a meta tag file handy with all your information and just add it to your pages...that will only help a little, but it will help. I find this already in the code of the web page:
<meta name="description" content="" />
<meta name="keywords" content="" />
just add your description and keywords. The page is .html and all the text for your product descriptions is in the html page, so search engines can certainly find it as easily as any other web page out there.

Bottom line is....
this is a new software that will continue to improve. It might not be ready for your needs yet..and that's fine. I hope I cleared up the 'search engine friendly' part. In my experience, I have no reason to believe that search engines won't find the pages produced by shopping cart.

I'm not trying to talk you into purchasing anything at all. Until you find a program that suits your needs, you should not have to. I just don't want anyone else scared off if they think it's not search engine friendly or thinking that you can not edit the files produced by the software. It might not be convenient, but it certainly is possible to change colors, images and links. There is no way to make it perfect for everyone, and I'm sure that CC will consider the changes you feel are needed.

All pages should be html and not combo php, xml, etc. Simple coding would allow the placement of banners, etc.

Having to change every page every time you update is absurd. A simple thought process and input from actual retailers would have given you this necessary info for the design of this software.

After further review it seems this is just another piece of software with bells and whistles done by programmers without any real world business experience as to what is necessary for a functional shopping cart website.

And the pages are not search engine friendly if you have to edit all pages once again to get them to be. Having to reinvent the wheel every time you add a product is once again, absurd.

It goes against what you have said that it is "easy".

Dont release a product if it is not ready as I wont be back to review or check on new releases. I will move on to software that is past the "beta" stage. If I wanted "beta" I wouldnt be charged for it.

Our score on this software 3 out of 10 stars. Check back in a couple of years when it is out of "beta".

Pardon me for thinking you wanted some input (your question.."any comments?" might have mislead me!)
I am not CoffeeCup. I am just another customer like all the other customers. This forum might not be the best avenue for your put-downs.

Like I said, this might not be the product for you and you SHOULD shop around until you find what you need. Coming back here after asking us for our comments just to further slam a program serves no purpose.

The thread will be closed soon. If you have any positive suggestions, I'm sure CoffeeCup would be glad to hear them. Otherwise, happy shopping.

I'm not a programmer and have little experience with doing a website, however I am progressing very well using the Coffeecup Shopping Cart Creator. My cart is basically done and now I'm working on my main site using Coffeecup Form Builder which I downloaded a couple of days ago.

I would like additional functionality with the cart, however the cart is very easy to use and does what I need it to. Therefore, good for me and at a fair price with free upgrades and great support. I've asked several questions and they were answered within a day.

It's good to hear from others about the software. It gives another perspective and done properly can advance the discussion and may even prompt future improvements.
