How can this happen?

At one time I had the price of an item marked one price- then made a change to increase at a later time.

Well today a purchase was made at the first price and not the updated price. I have checked the website on line and on my computer it shows the updated price.

So my question is this-
First, how did this happen? and
If a person does not update there screen (cache) and the old price shows- what price rings up in the shopping cart?

Thanks.

I briefly read the blog post made by Eric. Thanks- but really this happened on my store that I am selling "recipe cards" on. I had the price at one time at 1.50 then raised it to 3.00 and client bought it at the 1.50.

I checked my site and the price shows as 3.00 on two different computers.

How did the client buy the recipe card at 1.50 when it should have been 3.00?

Maybe he had it in the cart at 1.50. Even if you changed the price, that would not auto-update.

Probably NOT relevant, but just incase, is there an old version of your cart out there in hyperspace still with your Payment details active.

My customers keep quoting me one such website belonging to a competitor trying to get me to price match

I have to keep sending them to the competitors up to date site, where they are 20% dearer than me

Hi Viv,

Well I do not know. How can I see? Is this like a cache thing? Thanks for the reply- I took a peek at the links.

Have you ever set up another shop, possibly not SCC but a different hosting company, that you have forgotten about, or lost access to

Thats what has happened to the people who own the shops my links refereed to

Now they are bombarded with sales they can not afford to supply., so have to re fund.

Only you would know the answer to that !!!!!
