Before I download the trial version...Is it possible to configure the shopping cart software without the interface to paypal etc?
I seek a way that my existing trade customers can order items with the checkout function just sending the order to me without collecting payment as they are all customers with credit accounts.
Many thanks.

Hiya Ralph,

At this time neither of the shopping cart programs have offline payment systems. I have seen some posts in other threads mentioning that this could be in a future update though, but not sure when that would be. At this time the best you can do is to have your customers Email their orders to you.

What the SCC Pro program "Does" have is the ability to create a Catalog type shop where you can put all your items into the cart program same as you would if selling them online normally, but then choose to upload it as a Catalog rather than full blown shop. I have not tried this yet, but I'm thinking, if you are able to create extra pages with the catalog shop same as any other shop, you could incorporate a custom made order form using Form Builder (or your favorite form creating system) and put that form on a page that you name Order Here or whatever.

From there your customers can check out all your products on the Catalog and then go to the Order page to order from you. The form could be pretty intense even giving them drop downs and checkboxes for any and all products and options for them, and then it would be sent to your email.

I would think that would work pretty slick, and the only drawback is that they would have the order page separate from the product page so it's not the convenience of pressing a button to add it to a cart.

Just a suggestion if you'd care to check it out with the Pro version which should be available in a couple days on the site. I'm going to assume there will be a trial period for that also, which you can then see if something like that works for you. It will take a bit of time putting it all together of course, and then making a really good form for them to use, but I would think it could work pretty nicely.

(great intro price, I added the bundle to my already extensive CC software tools)

I've been digging around the forum threads to see if anyone else had figured out a way to modify SCCPro so it was a "wish list", quote request or just regular ordering system. (Thanks to Ralph for providing me with a new phrase to use in my search.) I hope Ralph doesn't mind if I combine my request with his post.

We aren't looking for a way to integrate an offline payment system, although that will be handy in the future. What we want is a way for a client or potential client to submit an order without going through the payment processing. Perhaps something like a quote or special pricing request.

For some sites I manage, it would be extremely helpful if the client could select items from the catalog view to submit for volume pricing. It would also help to submit the items so a sales/acct rep would know the exact product being discussed during a phone conversation. Currently clients copy & paste product numbers into email correspondence. I'd like to have a nice slick way to make the process less cumbersome for them.

Thanks Jo
I'm already using the Flash Form Builder with SSL to great effect, but it would be awesome if the catalogue option of SCCP allowed a click thru to an external order form.
I'm thinking if the order form opens in a new window, then it's possible to view the catalogued items while placing items on the order form to help reduce mistakes.

Here's hoping SCCP allows offline payments. I'm sure there are many small businesses with existing account client bases that would love to be have this functionality instead of their manual email/fax/phone order systems.....

Hey Joseph
You read my mind. All of the features you mention would be great for me too.
I have three colleagues I could sell the same system to tomorrow if it works.
Surely it would not be hard to add to SCCP?

That really depends on what you mean by "hard". ;) Right now we are just concentrating on more pressing issues like coupons, discounts, digital download etc. Once we have those items ticket off the to-do list, I am sure we will look into adding that ability.

That’s encouraging news Scott.

In the interim, I can try a workaround with the Form Builder.
I'm thinking the website access manager can provide my customers access to the catalogue, with the form builder (with SSL encryption) providing the order interface.

Does this approach sound feasible to you? Are there any other CC apps I could use to make the experience slick?

Many thanks.

Hiya Joseph,

Do you have a "lot" of products? If so then this might not work quite as concrete as if there's just a handful or so, but it's doable to an extent I think.

What I did on my product pages (well not all, but a good selection of them that are restockable) is added a generic form that asks for the item number and their email address if they'd like to be notified if something is restocked. I'm thinking you could take this form a step or so farther and ask for the information you need to know from them if they are wanting a quote on something for bulk/volume pricing, or whatever you want. You can create a drop down so they can choose what their subject is which you can then internally inside the form setup to be mailed to the correct department depending on the subject.

There's a lot you can do with a form for sure and trust me, although there are some things you may not be able to do with CC's Form builder, it is a very powerful form builder none the less. You can fill in the Item numbers or codes you want already into the form even if you don't have a lot of products (that would be a ton of form files to keep track of if you have tons of products hehe which is why I went with the generic one that has the customer fill in the Item ID instead and I can place the same exact form on any product then).

Another thing you can do for the external Order Form situation is Create a page for it within SCC Pro, and then Create a Button Link on that page for it that says straight out that this will open the order form in a separate page so they can continue browsing while filling out their orders.

Lots of things can creatively be done to get around some of the things we're waiting for CC to add if we put our heads together lol. Just some suggestions of course :)

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
