I have my shipping for the majority of my products set up by the weight method. But there are a handfull of items that have to have special shipping. So on those items I de-checked the box for "apply default" for the shipping in the "Basic Info" tab and applied my own shipping cost to each item that fits the special shipping. But when I publish my site, it still uses the default shipping method; by the weight, and not the special amount I entered for those products. What did I do wrong????

No, I have not figured it out and so far no one has responded to this question. The only answer I see is that you can do one but not the other. In which case, it makes no since to give you this option if it does not work.
