Shipping weight tables by state...

Has anyone yet found a good way to get the information to fill in the shipping by weight tables with fairly accurate information? That is without looking up the UPS rate for every state and weight category? Some would say just aim high, but that won't go over well with customers because I will have competitors.

Any Ideas? Maybe an exesting chart out there??

Now I am not absolutely certain on this one, but some time back I was having to look into US taxation and went to your internal revenue site where I think I found the information I was after. Whether everything was on a chart or not is another matter as I was looking for other reasons, but it might be worth checking that out.

Don't have for UPS but for the USPS the best I have come up with is:
Go to the below link to get the Postal Zone Chart for your location
http://postcalc.usps.gov/zonecharts/

And then to the below link to get all the mail classes, by weight and priced by zone. All the distance pricing is by zone as I'm sure you know.

I'm sure UPS must have similar but I have not located it.

Thanks for the USPS links.

UPS has a similar zone chart on thier web site. The problem is, Shopping Cart Creator uses states, not zip codes. So then one has to determine every zip code that is within a certain state to come up with a composite rate for that state? then x the number of weight divisions? then x 50?

You know UPS does have a nice API to allow shopping carts to look up shipping in real time.

So does the USPS. It works well in many shopping carts. I'm surprised this wasn't integrated into the CC Shopping Cart.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

It will be a part of SCC Pro in the future, but we had to put a stop to adding things otherwise it would have been 2012 before this would have been released. ;)

Yep I know about the API also. The manual Zip Code and zones is tedious. However, here is a link also that will list all of the zip codes for each state. Still one by one but doable. Glad most of the thing I sell fit well into a standard shipping charge based on amount of order.:)

Tried to edit the post to add this, but that failed for some reason and got a 404 page:

I'm assuming you know, but other may not. UPS Rate Charts by service, by Weight, by Zone are on this page http://www.rates.ups.com/ and for example daily rates:

I get that. Just trying to find the best workaround. I'm sure i'll get a feeling for approximate rates over time, I just need to get close enough to not lose money (or orders) in the meantime.

I'm getting there.

Thanks all, any other ideas welcome.

That would be nice. I have some expensive items that weigh very little and vice versa.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
