Hi,
I am having a lot of trouble with the shipping calculations. Because my products vary so much in weight/size, some carriers are cheaper than others in certain cases, i.e. Fed-Ex is better for large packages, USPS for small/light, etc.
I would like the ACTUAL shipping to be calculated based upon the TOTAL weight of the order. Further, I want the customer to see the different calculations from diff. shipping companies and shipping methods, like most websites, say Amazon for example, and be able to choose what they want. Seems simple enough.
So? Whats the deal? And if Coffee Cup still hasn't gotten around to making this possible (I think Scott said it was #5 on their to-do list over a year and a half ago)... what about some kinda Paypal shipping integration? I'm not entirely sure (anyone?) but does paypal have a more robust shipping calculator? If yes, could we integrate that into the shop, rather than the table calculations that the Coffee Cup software requires.
Sigh, so many hiccups, I just want my site up and running already, its seems like a never-ending list of "oh crap, it doesnt do that?!"'s that is really driving me up a wall.
Someone help me out here.
Shipping via USPS, Fed-Ex, UPS...?
Have you seen those commercials on TV about the people who call their customer service department of their credit card company? The ones where "Peggy" answers the phone? With the Russian (or whatever) accent? That is actually Scott in disguise.
We have been asking for along time now, almost 2 years now, for an update with a better way of doing shipping. You would have a better chance of getting somewhere with Peggy.
It's hard to believe that a company like CC would have put together a product like SCCP with such a worthless shipping process in the first place. Surely they realized it was inadequate from the start and we would all be complaining. Every eCommerce software package out there has a better shipping module and have had so for many years. This is like making a Ford Model T and putting it on the market and calling it the "Newest and most modern car available".
I have tried several different ways of setting up the shipping Shaheed, and none work very well. It will work for one product but not for all. So in the long run I loose more business than I would like because of the lousy shipping scheme in the software. Why not put in a simple shipping API and get it over with. One that will plug in the EXACT shipping cost so that the customer is not overcharged by $5 or me under payed by $10. I am truly at the point where I am ready to abandon ship and find a different shopping cart. I can't afford to stay with CC any longer. It's a shame they are more interested in creating more new software, ones with monthly fees, when they can't even make what they have perfect before moving on.
Sorry to keep complaining guys, but that is the only way to get people to listen. Kind of like you asking us to complain to Adobe about the flash thing. Who do you think will listen first, Adobe or CC?? My money is on Adobe.
