Shipping Based on Cart Total
Using purchased SCC Pro - first time using CC Shopping Cart software.
I need to set up shipping costs based on total merchandise cost. Here are the client's ranges:
Within the Continental USA, shipping costs are as follows:
• $0.00 - $75.00 = $6.95
• $75.01 - $150.00 = $7.95
• $151.00 - $250.00 = $8.95
• $250 - above = Free
• If shipped to Hawaii, Alaska or outside the USA the charge will be the cost plus insurance.
Plus, I need to charge tax for only customers in our state.
Could someone give me directions how to go about all this. I'm confused when I go into the shipping area.

There have been a number of fairly long threads on this kind of problem. Use the search function to pick up on something similar to your own question.

I did - latest was earlier this month - maybe June 6th - and no one put a response. I've poured over many through searches, a lot are prior to Pro version so most responses are how the pro version that's upcoming will have more shipping options, etc. Others I ran across post pro coming out are about different types of shipping.
My impression on almost every shipping issue that I have seen in these forums for US residents particularly...is that your shipping regulations are extremely complex. Setting up the kind of shipping costs that you require is not easy. As in many cases it will require some honest choices on the part of your customers who will probably have to choose an appropriate shipping fee from a dropdown list that you prepare for the various price groups. And as I have mentioned in a similar situation to someone else...if you have a small number of customers you can check their address to check their honesty...if you have a lot of sales traffic (and I hope you do), things become more difficult!
As with almost all software...and CoffeeCup is no exception...applications are always a work in progress and every time a user makes a new suggestion, consideration is given to including it in future updates. Several people have asked for something like you mention here, so it could well appear at some date in the future.

Thank you very much for further response
I'm like-minded as you as for the method we're looking for being "not easy" and it requiring a honor system. I guess I will ask her to modify shipping cost methods, though I hate to because I know she's done much research, gone to USPS (First Class only shipping including insurance cost of items), much other research, and then come up with this. Therefore, I'll be asking her to dump all that time & effort - gulp. At least until it's possibly added to PRO in a future version.
Do you see most % people here doing the lb method or flat fee when something more specific isn't part of the core of the software yet? I love this software, just haven't done beyond paypal buttons until now so I'm raw and having to learn the shipping part - when I get the hang of it I'll be able to fully appreciate the shipping part of a great shopping cart creator software
I was trying something else (open source) but already so very glad I switched mid-stream and came to my trusted CC folks!
