Reset SKU

Is there any way to reset sku numbers? I deleted some products and when you copy a product to another category it keeps indexing the sku number. I now have products with sku's from SKU_00000001-SKU_00000012 and when I copy lets say product SKU_00000001 to another category it numbers it's SKU_00000096 even though my highest SKU that I currently have is SKU_00000012.:/

I know I can manually change them but if there's a better way.

Sorry, but there is no way to reset that in the software automatically.

Oh! I just figured it out. I'll make a csv file in excel and import all my data with the sku's the way I want them. Not to mention it's a lot easier to copy and replace data using excel.

Edit
It only took me about 5 minutes to do the csv in excel. Plus for my application I'm using the same image for the products(Rent) so I'll save space and have a faster upload. It imported smooth as silk.:)

That is a great idea and look how it easy using a CSV file was. There are others I have seen that have tried for days to get that to work and you did it in 5 minutes! :)

Following on from this, can someone advise how Shopping Cart Creator Pro generates the next SKU? There must be a record somewhere in one of the files of which number it is up to.

If this is the case, then surely it is editable.

It does them in the order you add them.
So if you currently have 59 products in your shop the next sku added will be
SKU_00000060

You can alter the sku to your needs after the fact.

No it doesn't and that's my problem. I have 98 products, the last one being SKU_0000098.

When I add a new one it gives it SKU_0000104. I'm 6 adrift.

There is no option to reset the numbers. If you do not like the one auto picked, you can enter your own custom SKU.

Had you at any point deleted an item? Or made it unavailable in the store? Just guessing here...:P
