When an eBay member posts a question about non eBay selling venues, I often suggest Coffee Cup software. I got into a recent discussion concerning buyer security. One member said something to the effect that I need to protect buyers from someone hacking into my cart and getting their information.

I'll be the first to admit that I rely on PayPal and Google checkout to protect my buyers. I jumped into the descession at post #5 Here is part of my last post, #14

Far as I know I don't collect any buyer information with my Coffee Cup carts, the buyer is taken to PayPal or Google to sign in to his/her account. Coffee Cup has a Form Builder package that I own but don't use. Sounds like should I build a form and add to my carts from what you say I'll need to buy some security package. I'll check out the Coffee Cup forum concerning security with Form Builder or post a question about it. BTW, Coffee Cup has a package called Website Access Manager 4.0, one of the few packages I don't currently own. Here is a short description: .....

Do I need to do more to protect my buyers? If I incorporate Form Builder into my carts, do I need to protect anyone filling out the form? Do I need Website Access Manager

Thanks

You are correct, since SCC does not store any information at all, there is nothing to secure. This is one of the largest reason why we do not log customer and credit card information. If we did, then we would need to become PCI compliant.

Adding a form would also not have any impact because that information would be delivered over e-mail.
