Hi,

I'm creating a customised homepage within Cart Creator Pro (trial version) and want to be able to place the featured products on this page.

Can someone point out what piece of coding I need to extract from the relevant files to do this.

I think the code I need is on the file called "index.inc.php" but I can't workout what I need to extract.

I believe the ability to place featured items on the home page is already built into the cart. Have a look around the options.

There is very little that you will need to do outside the program itself and this would be one of those things you don't need to do that for. If you open the Your Shop settings and go to the Pages tab of that first settings tab you'll see that the first 2 sections of the Pages tab deal with if and how to display featured items or categories on your page(s). Thanks for your replies.

I have seen the options under "Your Shop >> Pages >> Shop Home.

What I am trying to do is combine the features of "Use Pages tool and enter my own content" under Homepage (optional) and "Show only products - Featured Products". There does not seem to be an option to do this and I think it needs a little customisation on my part.

I have been able to create two columns on the homepage using the page tool option. On the left side I have my own content (an intro to the website). In the right I want to show the featured products. For this I need to know what the actual code is.

I hope that makes sense.

Your shop home page option is intended to be used as pre defined by the template you have chosen, ie the products are intended to be two or three or four across, with text directly above

It is possible apparently to edit the code but if you are finding it difficult the home page option may be a better way of going about what you want to do

Create a home page design with VSD or html editor, and with the home page option enter the url and link to it , and create a link back from the page to the cart

Vsd has some template which also match the SCC templates if you have found one you like

I see where you can add products on 2 pages, the homepage and product page, but I have created other pages and want to be able to have products on those pages, is there a way to do that? Also I see where some have created multiple shops, but if a person wants to be items in all the shops are they tied together so that there is only one shipping and one final cart?

In order to put products on other pages you would need to manually do that with code. What you can do is put image links in your other pages (images that link to the products they belong to) and that works pretty well, it's just a little bit of time to do this but works nicely.

As for the multiple shops thing, that would be a no. Shops are all separate entities so if you have more than one and you want them linked together there would be multiple shopping carts involving separate purchases from each shop.

thank you JoAnn... the quick answers are great... but now for another stupid question... I have tried to copy and paste photos on the pages.. but creater pro wont let me... there must be a simple trick that I dont know about...
Is there a more indepth manual available for this program?

I have finally worked out what bits of coding I needed to play around with to get what I wanted...

Placing "Featured Products" on any customised page created within Shopping Cart Creator Pro.

Please view the attached screenshot to see what I mean.

I've only tested this on IE, Safari and FF and it seems to work well (products get added to the cart when added from this customised page).

If anyone is interested in what bits I changed around, please let me know. I'd be happy to save someone a few hours of shouting at the PC.

Incidentally, is there an option to be notified when replies are made to your posts on this forum?

Would you send me how you did it... You have done what I want to do....
and I can use all the help I can get...
