Paypal shipping labels

I want to use Paypal to do the printing of my shipping labels. I searched their website and found nothing to tell me what kind of label I need to print on.

Is there any one out there that can tell me what label to use for an inkjet printer? and where to get them?

OK, that's where you go to get them, but what is it I need?

Hiya Steven,

For more info on how to setup the printer settings for your labels (which shows you what printers and sizes you can use) go to the Merchant Services selection on the top menu. Then choose on the top right section under Shipping & Tax the Shipping Preferences link.

Under U.S. Postal Service Preference you'll see a link for Edit Printer Settings. Click that and you'll see the info on how to tell it what you want it to print on and what printer you're using for it. It looks like it's limited in what printers it can use, but I haven't ever used it so check it and see if it will do the job for you. Shows you sizes and printers in the dropdown menu. Hope that helps. :)

Yes Jo Ann, I saw that part. But it is talking about what kind of special printer to use if you are printing special labels for this application. I am using An HP inkjet printer. PayPal allows you to choose this but then does not tell you what paper to print on (label). Surely there is a type of label specific to this application. You can't just print on plain paper. And an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of adhesive label would be a waste and expensive as all get out :(

I just print onto regular paper and attach to packet with glue or tape.

PayPal typically uses an entire sheet of paper to print a much smaller label, which is very wasteful.

Yep I agree with Will, that's what I do with my labels, I print them on paper ( I go through the post office website to do my shipping stuff). The other thing you can do is print out one label for testing and check the size needed. Then go buy your labels, it doesn't matter what "type" of label, just a label.

Sorry I didn't get back to you Steve, What everybody else is saying works fine. I need water proof labeling for most of my applications so I'm limited on what I can use. As far as what to use as a label Avery makes a bunch of different ones. Go to the office supply and pick one out that you can get all the info on and any custom art work if that applies.:)

That makes a lot of since Will. Thank you. I think that is what I will do. I was afraid that no matter what label I used, it would be expensive and wasteful with the size required. Not much out there cheaper than a piece of plain paper and a little tape.

Jo Ann, what Post Office shipping method are you referring to? The only thing that I have seen is the Postal Assistant which is software that you put on your computer. I was thinking of that route but it looks much more complicated than I want; the software owners manual is over 250 pages. Can't be all that easy. It just seems since all the shipping info is right there in PayPal (my merchant choice) that it would be a lot easier to use them.

Thanks everyone for you input. It helped very much in my decision to use plain paper.

One last question, I see that there is an option in PayPal to print with a receipt or to print without a receipt. Without a receipt prints 2 shipping labels, with a receipt prints 1 shipping label and 1 receipt. Which one do you guys normally do?

I can see the need for the receipt (for the customer, placed inside the box) but I am not sure I can see the need for 2 shipping labels.
