Listing the same item in 3 sizes

I am at a bit of a loss for this one. I sell children's clothing and I am not sure how to sell the same item in different sizes.

At the moment I have 3 sizes for 1 item and have them listed as a sub category -small, medium & large. With the identical item listed in each sub category. The reason I do this is I want the inventory to keep track of my stock for me. I was going to list them as an option on the product item but then I can't use the inventory correctly as it won't correctly record which size was sold.

Is it possible to list 3 sizes in one product detail and the inventory to reflect which size sells?

eg
Hats
Small Crotchet Hats
Medium Crotchet Hats
Large Crotchet Hats
Small Felt Hats
Medium Felt Hats
Large Felt Hats
etc.......
Leggings
Small Leggings
Medium Leggings
etc.............

Unfortunately Nadine, that isn't possible at this time.
I do know that CC is aware that people are needing this, but I don't really know if it will make it into the program or not.

Right now the best way you can do it is what you're already doing, making separate products... but..!

All is not lost lol, you "can" put links into the descriptions of your products and one way to combat what you're trying to do is create a link something like this:

Looking for more sizes? This item is also available in X-Large (making that word a link), Large (making that word a link) and Medium (making that word a link)

Those links of course would be to the actual product itself so that there's always a way they can get to the other sizes easily.

You can even use the same line of text and just change the links for each product so you can just highlight the text and choose the link button to make it a link which helps keep typing down a bit.

Hope that helps :)

Not the answer I wanted :|

But thank you for the work around :):)

I certainly hope it does make it in, it would be invaluable for so many online businesses..............
