I know, vague title but I didn't know what to call it lol. I have this strange idea of what might be able to be done in my head, but well my head is old and it may not have a clue hahaha.

The idea? Well it's like this:

I need to create a sortable page of links for a client that needs more versatility than the program has at the moment (hopefully multiple subcategories is on the list of todo's for the dev team). So since I can't add more than one category, the client wants a page of links that gives the products in sorted categories. I want to take this a step further (make it easier I'm hoping) for the shoppers to get around his site. The sugcategory issue is really a problem so I'm hoping this will work.

I would like to make a page of links that are setup in categories already like so:

Category 1
.... List of subcategories here

Category 2
.... List of subcategories here
------ Sorted by X
------ Sorted by Y
------ sorted by Z

I would like to integrate the links that say Sorted by (whatever) to input specific search criteria into the search box when clicked. This would inevitably lead them to a list of products that I will have tags in for those exact search criteria words.

This would kill 2 birds with one stone, the inability to add more than one subcategory (he would need the sorting categories to be subs of the sub category so that can't happen right now), and it the inability to put a product in more than one category without messing up the inventory system.

Is this possible? Or am I way over my head? These and many other questions, inquiring minds wanna know Thanks for any assistance here.

Well is it me or just that no one has any ideas on this? Not sure if I explained it right, so if it's that you don't understand what I want please let me know and I can try to re explain it differently. Any ideas on how this can work would surely be appreciated. Thanks

Interesting points. Sorry that with my novice level of understanding and newness to Designer and Creator, I can't offer up any gems of wisdom. The search feature in Designer seemed very cool at face value but I couldn't get it to function well (probably operator error on my own part) so I clicked it not to show in the final product.

Ok so since no one seems to know or have ideas how to do this, can someone tell me if this theory would work? Seems like it should since it's pretty straight forward, but.... lol I have a lot of links to create searches for so I'd like to be sure I'm barking up the right tree.

If I do a search on a SCCP shop it comes up with a link that looks like this (stole this from someone's shop so don't shoot me )

If I were to do a search on the shop I'm currently working on, can I in theory put the link from that search in the address bar and have it come up with current search results? Or will this be only the search results of what was current when I did that search?

Hopefully that's making sense, but I'd like to take these links and generate the search from a link so that if someone clicks a link it will automatically do that search for them. I'm assuming the above would work, but can someone give me more concrete answer as I'm just theorizing here and the shops not anywhere near complete enough to test this yet.

I am very sure that using the link will generate the search for the customer, what I'm not sure of is if new items are added to the shop after the search links are setup, will it include those new items too? Seems like it should, but...

If that would work, then that would take care of my issue fully, basically would be the same thing as I was originally asking, but wasn't sure how to ask it I guess. Thanks all
