Is there a way to change the shops...

I was wondering if there is a way to change which page is the page that pops up first when someone visits your website?

As it is in SCCP, the first page to pop is the the "Shop Home". I have added several of my own pages, home, contact, about, etc. and I would like my "Home" page to be the first page up when someone visits. Is this possible?

Thanks,
Steve

There is no such option in the software, however if you are linking to your shop from your website, just link directly to the page you want them to start on instead.

Just go in the settings and have it use your own external page as the home page. You should find the settings for adding the URL and such at the bottom of the popup window for those settings. Sorry I can't point you to it directly as I'm not home with the software installed till Thursday, but look in the settings and you should find where the home page info is.

If you have your shop inside a folder called, for instance "shop", you can have any page you like as your index or opening page on the web site. All the links on the home, or index page of your web site will first point to the folder, and then to all the shop links inside it.

Now Scott is going to shoot me for this, but here I go again with my own shop as an example...
If you open the shop
jayetra.com you will see in the url address bar up the top of the browser, the following address:
http://www.jayetra.com/
which indicates that you are on my site index or default opening page. You could just as well have written
http://www.jayetra.com/index.html
to open up the site.

Now if you hover over some of the items in my menu and look right down at the bottom of the browser window, check out the page url address in the status bar. You will see that first there is the address of the web site, followed by a slash and the word shop (folder containing all shop content)... followed by another slash and the name of the page (page tucked inside shop folder).
eg.

All a bit technical for some of us, I just change the page name (shop home) to INFORMATION

then put the details you want found first by google etc in that page

also has advantage if you untick the last box at bottom of pages menu, it then puts all your other pages underneath in the drop down menue

try this one for example : http://www.handmade-by-me.co.uk/signet1 … groupid=19

The home tab would not exist if you have not linked to a separate home page the way i have, so you could just name another page home. to create one if you want one

Hiya Steven,

If you want to have your home page be a different page other than a page created by the SCCP program, you can create a link in the SCCP main settings. I wish I could steer you, could someone please give him the info to how to get to the window that allows you to link to an outside (external) page for the home page? I don't have it installed, I'm on my mom's computer while visiting and am reluctant to install any of this stuff on it so if someone could please point him to the right location for the Home Page settings I would most appreciate it.

You'll find the settings on that same area for your Featured Items listing and how you want it to be shown on the page and at the very bottom is where you tell it how you want the home page to work. You'll find a box there to put a URL for that to be the home page, and when you do that it will create a Home button for you and that button will go to that external page.

Hopefully I've not misunderstood what you're trying to do here lol. If I have, my apologies :)

The only website I am going to have is the shop created with SCCP. Within SCCP I have created 5 additional pages; one being "Home". That is the page that I would like to be the page that is first opened when you go to my website. I hope that makes since. With SCCP when your site is first opened up with the "Preview" mode, it automatically goes to the "Shop Home" page, not the "Home" page that I added. Can this be changed?

Ah ok now I see what you mean. Ok here's the thing. The Shop Home page is always the home page so what you need to do is make you Shop Home page have the things on it that your Home page your created has on it. From there you can change the name of the Shop Home page to Home within the program itself. Just click on the Pages button at the top, double click name area of the Shop Home page tab (I believe this works, but don't sue me if it doesn't lol). If that doesn't work to allow you to change it then click the Shop Home tab and on the right side at the top you should see where you can edit the page names there.

No need to create a separate page for your home page, just put on it what you want, turn on/off any Feature Item settings you want and it's all done. Hope that's more what you needed to know, sorry for the mixup :P

OH, OK, that sounds easy enough. The fact that items were showing up on my shop home page kept me from using it as my home page, which I tried to do exactly the way you suggested. But, yes, now I see the choice about Feature item on shop home. I will turn that off and see what I get.

This is good, that way I can use the "Home" page for some other page now.

Thanks Jo Ann
