Sad to say, but I have moved on to the Dark Side (but Open Source flavored, so more like Dark Side Light!).
I make this as a pure business decision. I can no longer compete effectively with others in my business without having some major changes in SCCP.
I have grown to really love SCCP for a cart system (But I admit I loath SCDP!!). I found ways of abusing the giant flat-file that SCCP uses to store its data. I worked my way around the quirkiness of creating my own themes. Figured out ways to add in additional pages as I needed and have them added to the menu system.

But I can no longer go without some of what I consider to be a must in any e-commerce cart system:
  • Text fields for product customization
  • Coupon codes
  • Downloads
  • Customer groups
  • Product reviews
  • SEO friendly URLs
  • No cryptic names for images used on the site (i.e. "full2_3_45.png") I really dislike this one the most!
  • Customer accounts
  • MySQL DB and not a flatfile
Those are listed in no particular order as I consider them all to be necessary.

I will stay tuned for whatever (and whenever) the next iteration of SCCP comes out.

Hopefully everything that myself and others in this forum have asked for will happen to the next SCCP.

Some of us moved to the 'dark side' as promises of new versions have failed to materialise over the last three years. The last update to the program being July 2011. :/

It's a real shame, as with a few tweaks it could have been right at the forefront of ecommerce solutions and been one of the pack leaders now. Pity they lost sight of that particular ball.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
