Okay, I'm a novice on ecommerce setup. Can anyone give me a quick overview on how shopping cart works and what is needed. I downloaded it and it seems easy to create a store, but I'm a little confused on how everything works... do you need a database, can you integrate the store into a VSD website easily, how are the orders processed, how to the orders show up for filling. Just need an overview of what I'm getting into here.

Thanks !!

No database needed. It is a flat file cart. The cart is stand alone and shouldn't be incorporated into another page BUT CoffeeCup also sells themes for VSD and HTML Editor that match the cart themes. Orders are processed via an external processor (Authorize..net, PayPal, Google Checkout..). You receive an email when an order is processed. You should get the Pro version for more functionality and the Pro version of the cart theme program to fine tune the theme.

The best thing to do is download the trial versions of the Pro cart and theme program and check them out 30 days free of charge. It's a cool little program(s) for eCommerce.

Could I link to the Shopping Cart via my VSD website? Once an order is processed, the email shows the items ordered, address to send and other information? I realize this is basic stuff, but I'm not as familiar with creating carts.

Thanks Tom!!

No problem. Sure, you can link the the VSD page to the cart and vice versa. You can also create pages in the cart (about, privacy, contact, etc). The PayPal and, I believe, Google Checkout order email will describe the order. If you use Authorize.net, you will get an order notice email but you will have to log into A.net to see the complete order as they operate a little differently.

Paypal notification includes the initial description (about 20characters) Not the short description below, so best to add a part number in before anything else

I tried 4 cart systems prior to SCC and SCC is by far the easiest to use, if you want a little more detail go with pro , you will inevitably upgrade to pro eventually though anyway

If you have a VSD site already , give us a link, we can better advise how to make them similar
