Hi,
Is it possible to have your shop home and categories page look as "catalog" (without prices) and make the rest of pages work as "shopping cart"?

I am sorry, but no. You can either have a catalog or a shop. There is no mixture of them both.

You could hand code some custom content into a separate page for the catalog look.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.
