Call for price

As the title says is there a way to put a " call for price" in sccp? Some items we have require specific specs and builds and that is what determines the price per item. Options will not work because these are manufactured items and freight can be very pricey.

What I would do is with inventory management turned on, make it so there are no units that can be purchased for this item. Then on the product detailed page, put in some text that says "call for price".

doesn't that turn on the Out of Stock image though? Or am I thinking of something else? lol

Yes, because there are no items in stock...

Ok just making sure I'm thinking about that correctly. In the end for the user asking though, wouldn't that deter sales to see the out of stock mark on the product? Just curious if that would bother anything or not I guess.

Unless you want to actively use the inventory control, just put large stock quantities for all the items, except the ones you want people to phone in for and change the out of stock logo for one that says call for prices, or even one the same colour as your background so nothing 'visible' shows up.

I must admit though, when I see a site that says call for prices, I simply vacate it. I don't like dealing with folks where the price is not clearly displayed. Most people buying online simply don't want the potential interaction with sales people.

I would have to agree with Will on the Call for Prices thing. But on the other hand if you were to state specifically that the prices vary due to shipping or something on that order so that people realize it's not because you just don't want to display the price because it's too high.... that might keep their attention a bit. Try to put something short and simple and to the point so it catches their attention "BEFORE" they see the Call for Prices thing so that when they do see the Call for Prices they will not go "Oh forget it, they won't list their prices so they must be too high" type thing :)

True I'm not a big fan of call for pricing, however the product is a conveyor for bulk powder materials. Since each powder has different specs, such as density, abrasiveness and so on. Each conveyor must be spec'd to the product and require different materials to meet the demands of the product being conveyed. The people in the industry know they need to call and often times send in a spec sheet for their product. This is heavy machinery I'm dealing with and not off the shelf items :)

Why not try this instead. Go into the Pages area and make a new page and call it "Custom Expensive Stuff" and on this page have all the information about this product and how to obtain more information.
