PayPal insists this work if I do the following:

"I can see that you are missing this variable and it's value SOLUTIONTYPE=Sole
In your SetExpressCheckoutRequest API call."

Can anyone tell me where to put this line? I think this info will help several of us.

PayPal just gave me bit more info:

You have to pass it in the API call SetExpressCheckout,

Please fill free to forward this information to your developer.

See the following example:

Did you open a support ticket and pass that info on then? :P

Not saying they will/can do anything, but you need to pass it on if you want them to be sure they see it as the CC Team does police the forums constantly, that's why they have a support ticket system for actual software support. Forums here are mostly user to user support.

Hi Eric, Yeah, I asked but they won't help. Here is the reply I got:

Unfortunately we cannot provide support for third party scripting. PayPal already allows users to pay with their own credit cards without having an account with them, so you shouldn't need this script to begin with.

Its a shame though because this would be a great help to all of us who use PayPal. We could bypass that annoying page that tries to get our customers to sign up with PayPal. I'm certain that it hurts sales. I had a website that landed on a similar page years ago and I got contstant customer complaints about it. This new page would eliminate that. Oh well, I guess I'll take a crash course in php and see what I can do with it.

I appreciate your assistance though Eric. If I figure it out, I'll post it.

I'm trying by placing the code in the list of variable options that the cart is passing. I haven't setup my PayPal yet to give it a try.

Paul, have you tried paypal payment standard ?

The landing page my clients get to, just suggests using their Paypal account if they have one,

With a very clear option to buy as a GUEST NO ACCOUNT SET UP REQUIRED

I get about 75% of my orders from Guests , so people seem to understand the landing page.

Try my delorean site to confirm !

Hi Viv,

I checked your site. You appear to have a different landing page then mine. The "pay as a guest" option hasn't been showing up on mine on Express Check or PayPal Standard. I do think you and your customers would be better served if the page made it more obvious that they can pay without signing up. I suspect you may be loosing a little business.

I think if PayPal is offering to let us have a relatively clean page to land on, we should all take them up on it. This is why I'm surprised that the folks at Coffee Cup don't seem to have any interest in updating the php to send "PayPal Express Checkout" there.

I do have a bit of leverage with PayPal. They have collected over 100 grand in fees from my other sites over the years. I have no problem pointing that out to them ...and it seems to get their attention.

Anyhow, thanks for showing me your site. I guess there is hope yet.

Hi Eric,

I appreciate the effort you are putting into this.

I've been learning the basics to php over the past day. Not sure if I'll get the hang of it, but time will tell. I may have to fall to my backup plan and use the free version of the Magenta cart that my host company provides. I'd prefer Coffee Cup though because it looks more user friendly.

Here is a screenshot the top half of the PayPal landing page I end up on. As you can see, there is no way to pay other then signing up for PayPal. I'll add the bottom half in another post.
